ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, has convened for Tuesday the representatives of the main oil companies active in Italy: the meeting, explains in an interview to the newspaper “La Verità”, “will have the purpose to make the point on the trend of prices of petroleum products and fuels as a result of the Memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran flows and the consequent reboot of the consequent
.
The price of fuels in Italy “is in line with that of other European countries – he explains -, also thanks to the monitoring and measures put in place by the government from the beginning of the conflict. The trend of international quotations, however, allows to see possible margins of reduction of the price to the pump in the coming weeks: That is why I have called on the companies to accelerate the transfer of these prices, which, however, have declined gradually for almost twenty days, even before the conclusion of the negotiations. The Aie, International Energy Agency, indicated that the return to normality will be gradual: I will evaluate with companies how to ensure, even in this context, full timeliness and transparency, for the benefit of citizens and enterprises”.
Due to the resumption of reciprocal attacks in the Gulf of these last hours, the negotiating solution still appears “too fragile to lower the guard and, however, it is not the only war front – it emphasizes –. It applies to the price of fuels as for the supply of raw materials. This is why, at the last meetings of the Competition Council in Brussels and also at the recent bilateral summit with France, I reaffirmed the need to act immediately. We must do so in the awareness that we will have to reduce our dependence on foreign countries both with regard to energy production – hence the agreement between Rome and Paris on cooperation on SMR and new generation nuclear power, to produce also nuclear energy – and on the European strategic deposit for critical raw materials, for which Italy has nominated Porto Marghera as a pilot site. More generally, it is therefore necessary to ensure our economic security. We must act together, aware that the conflict persists around our borders and threatens our security, our independence, our freedom.”.
