UniCredit appointed best bank in Europe at the Euromoney Awards for the second consecutive year

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – For the second consecutive year, UniCredit was named Best Bank of Europe at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026. “The important recognition confirms the Bank’s leadership position in Europe, the excellent financial results achieved in 2025 and the constant commitment to creating value for customers and all its stakeholders in the 14 markets in which it operates,” reads in a note.

In addition to being named Best Bank of Europe, UniCredit has won 11 more awards at European level, including Best Bank for Small and Medium Enterprises in Germany and Central and Eastern Europe: “a concrete testimony to the role played in support of the growth and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in its reference markets.”.

UniCredit has also been awarded the Best Retail Bank in Italy, “a result that testifies to the commitment to making banking services increasingly simple, innovative and efficient, responding concretely to the needs of millions of customers.” The solid presence of UniCredit in Central and Eastern Europe has been further confirmed by the awards as Best Bank in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria, to which numerous awards are added in the categories dedicated to SMEs, EG, Corporate Banking and Investment Banking.

In their entirety, “these awards witness the success of the transformation path undertaken by the Group in recent years and represent a further incentive for the next stage of growth outlined by the UniCredit Unlimited strategy”.

“The 2025 was a record year for UniCredit. Return on Tangible Equity reached 19.2%, while revenues rose to 23.9 billion euros, compared to 16.3 billion five years ago, with a more efficient cost base. The cost/revenue ratio has been confirmed on levels of excellence, equal to 38.5%, and the cost of risk has remained exceptionally low”, commented Dominic O’Neil, Europe Editor of Euromoney.

“The strong focus on Europe, the financial performance above the average, the robust generation of capital and a forward-looking strategic vision make UniCredit one of the protagonists of the transformation and integration of the European banking sector,” he concluded.
