ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In June 2026, compared to the previous month, retail sales are slightly down both in value and in volume (-0.1%). Sales of foodstuffs are decreasing in value and volume (respectively -0.4% and -0.5%) while those of non-food goods increase (+0.2% in value and volume). Istat detects it.
“In the second quarter of 2026, in economic terms, retail sales see an increase in value (+0.6%) and in volume (+0.2%). Sales of food are growing in value (+0.4%) and decreased in volume (-0.2%) while those of non-food goods are increasing both in value and in volume (respectively +0.8% and +0.4%). On a curtain basis, in June 2026, “ retail sales record a growth of 3.1% in value and 1.9% in volume”. Food goods “increase in value (+1.9%) and are stationary in volume, while non-food goods are growing both in value and in volume (respectively +4.0% and +3.1%).
As for non-food goods, “positive tendential variations are recorded for all groups of products except footwear, leather and travel articles (-1.2%). The major increases concern household appliances, radio, TV and recorders (+14.2%) and equipment for computer science, telecommunications, telephony (+12.6)”.
Compared to June 2025, “the value of retail sales is increasing for all distribution forms, particularly relevant for online trade (+26.7%), which has a significant growth in volume (+28.0%)”, concludes Istat.
