ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The meeting table between the Government and the trade union organizations on the former Ilva plant in Taranto, chaired by the Undersecretary of the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano.
As you learn, the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, the Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, participates in the meeting.
For trade union organizations, representatives of Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl, Uilm-Uil, Ugl Metalmeccanici, Usb and Federmanager participate. There are also representatives of Invitalia, the extraordinary commissioners of Acciaierie d’Italia and the extraordinary commissioners of the Ilva Group.
“ Yesterday we learned of the decree of the Court of Appeal of Milan, whose device inhibits the productive activities, therefore a decree of suspension of the activities, not of fixing conditions to continue, unlike what written by some publications. We do not want to comment on the decision, if not in order to detect in this case a singular synchronicity between the calendar of the Government, the comparisons with the workers and the judicial calendar. None of the government will make controversy with the judicial authority, but certainly read some of those who have resorted to saying ‘we made ‘crazy’ stona, because this is not a game, it is not a chess game that today affects workers and companies”. This is what he would say according to what the Undersecretary learns to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, in his openness to the table on the former Ilva in progress at Palazzo Chigi, underlining however that the Government intends to ensure company continuity, as demonstrated yesterday in the Council of Ministers for the allocation of additional 100 million euros to ensure operational continuity.
FIM CISL “NESSUNA RESA E NESSUNO SCARICABARILE SUI LAVORATORI”
“The decision on AIA and the months of stalemate of the government cannot become an alibi to close the hot areas. We expect immediate responses and a solid industrial plan. Those who think that from this sentence raise their hands to surrender, or to wash their hands over an industrial, employment, social, environmental and health problem, are very wrong. The union will not allow it.” Thus Ferdinando Uliano, Secretary General of the FIM CISL, comments on the recent decision that has cancelled the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA) in the midst of a crisis that continues to penalize the former Ilva plant.
Uliano reiterates the absolute opposition to any design that involves dramatic scenarios for workers.
“We will be determined by all our forces – the FIM leader emphasizes – to prevent drawings that can prospect situations of tears and blood for the workers of the former Ilva steel mill. For us it is fundamental an industrial solution and it is equally fundamental that the State plays a precise and important role, building the conditions to continue producing steel in our country, strategic good for the whole industry”.
The Secretary General of the FIM CISL points the finger “against delays and institutional responsibilities”, highlighting “the concrete risk of unacceptable closures. It is necessary to prevent any situation which can lead to the closure of the plant. The prospect of closing the hot areas for us is a perspective to be rejected forcefully – continues -. We need to find the useful solutions to make sure to continue an industrial project, in front of which unfortunately this government has lost a lot of time, it is now five months that we are waiting for a meeting to have a perspective that you still do not understand. In conclusion, Uliano launches a clear aut aut to the executive and all the parties involved: today we are faced with a ruling that cancels an integrated environmental authorisation made by this Government. For this reason we demand solutions and above all we do not accept that we surrender to a situation of this type, downloading on workers dismissals and intolerable conditions”.
