ROMA (ITALPRESS) – An energy stance of approximately €870 million on business, administration and reception. Confesercenti is estimated, in collaboration with the Innova Group, on the basis of the increase in supply spending between June and August 2026, compared to the same period of 2025: about 700 million more costs for electricity and another 170 million for gas, with increases in electricity bills greater than 40% and tips close to 50% for restaurants and hotels. But there are also companies that have recorded increases close to 90%.
To push up the energy bill were both the increase in consumption, linked to exceptionally high temperatures and the increased use of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and the increase in the price of electricity wholesale: between June and August the PUN increased by more than 30% compared to the same period of 2025.
In particular, the peaks of prices in the evening hours were influenced by the activities of administration and reception, precisely those in which hotels, restaurants, bars and public establishments focus a significant part of their activities and consumption.
The impact on budgets is significant, especially for tourism activities. For an average hotel of 45 rooms, the electricity bill of the three summer months passes from about 8.250 to 12.250 euros: 4 thousand euros more, equal to +48.5%. For a restaurant the expense rises from 2.100 to 3.100 euros, with an increase of thousand euros (+47.6%); for a bar from 1.250 to 1.800 euros, 550 euros in more (+44%). Consistent traces also for trade: +41.3% for a food exercise and +40.9% for a non-food store.
And after the emergency electricity of the summer, attention already moves on the coming weeks. To worry is above all the gas, whose price in the three summer months has grown by more than 30% compared to the same period of 2025. Also considering the only tariff effect, with substantially unchanged consumption, the greater outburst for enterprises is estimated at approximately 170 million euros. In view of the cold season, the level of stocks and tensions on energy markets feed the fear of further increases.
“In this scenario, an intervention on the ASOS components of the bill is no longer delayable,” says Confesercenti President Nico Gronchi. “For many business and tourism activities, energy is not a compressible expense, but an essential condition for working and ensuring continuity and quality of service. The alarm on the bills is added to what we have already launched in recent days on the carburetors, while the concern for the gas grows: the energy pressure is widening on three fronts at the same time. The increase in these costs is compressing already reduced margins and inevitably risks moving to final prices. We are entering a new era of energy, in which its cost will have an increasing weight on the competitiveness of enterprises and the purchasing power of families. Taxation will also have to take into account: we cannot continue to charge on energy a tax burden that is likely to amplify increases and transfer them to the entire economy. Otherwise, after inflaming bills and fuels, the energy core will end up fueling inflation.”.
