MILANO (ITALPRESS) – The new Master in Financial Engineering for Portfolio and Risk Management is born from the collaboration between Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and Eurizon Asset Management: a specialized path that integrates quantitative training, professional skills and technological innovation. Eurizon, Founding Partner of the initiative, participated in the ideation and implementation of the Master, contributing to a project that focuses on the academic value of quantitative finance and its dialogue with applications in asset management, portfolio management and risk management. The novelty of the route lies in a didactic approach that relates the mathematical foundations and quantitative models with technological tools and concrete problems of financial management.
The program combines disciplines such as advanced computing, measurement theory and stochastic processes with programming, probabilistic machine learning, artificial intelligence and quantum computing applied to finance. The integration of these areas with portfolio construction and risk management enhances quantitative finance as a meeting ground between academic research, technological innovation and professional practice. The program includes 300 hours of training: 60% of the lessons will be held by university professors of the Catholic University, 20% from Eurizon professionals and the remaining 20% from experts of partner companies: a qualified network that brings together Italian and international investment banks, asset management companies, insurance companies and specialized companies in energy and commodities markets. The role of Eurizon is expressed in the participation of its professionals in the faculty: a direct contribution to training that supports the rigour of university research and teaching to the skills gained in the management of portfolios and risks. The collaboration thus enhances the subject as a field of study and application, strengthening the link between University and financial industry.
The lessons are integrated by conferences, visits to companies and institutions, inspections, group work and guest speakers, to translate theoretical content on occasions of comparison and application. The partnerships also provide internships, support for thesis and scholarships, as well as the involvement of professionals in teaching and in the classroom testimonials. The lessons will take place from November 2026 at the end of May 2027, from Monday to Friday and Saturday morning; from June to October the projects will be developed. At the end of the course there is also a minimum three-month internship between June and October. The Master’s closing ceremony is scheduled for October/November 2027.
The program is divided into 12 courses. The Python programming is accompanied by advanced calculation and scientific calculation for finance, advanced econometrics, probabilistic machine learning and artificial intelligence models for investment strategies, measurement theory, processes and stochastic calculation and optimization. These foundations are linked to the teachings dedicated to asset allocation and quantitative management of risks and portfolios, the regulatory framework of financial markets, risk pricing, financial and derivative activities and quantitative trading and arbitrage strategies. The path also includes fintech algorithms for products negotiated in stock, portfolio construction and risk coverage, private markets, structured credit and innovation, quantitative arbitrage strategies and cover for commodities, natural resources and energy markets. A teaching dedicated to quantum information and quantum computing for finance completes the opening to frontier technologies.
On November 3, from 18:00 to 19:30, Welcome Day at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart will officially inaugurate the training course: an opportunity to welcome students, present teachers and services and start the Master community. The event will open with the greetings and interventions of the CEO and General Manager of Eurizon Capital SGR SpA and Head of Asset Management Division of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, Maria Luisa Gota, and of the Director of the Master, Davide Radi, followed by the presentation of the students and the teaching body, from the interventions of the Master Office and the Stage & Placement Office.
