ROMA (ITALPRESS) – According to the preliminary estimates Istat, in July the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC), to the gross of the tobaccos, recorded a change of +0.2% on a monthly basis and +2.8% on an annual basis (from +3.0% of the previous month).
The slight slowdown in inflation reflects the dynamics of non-worked food prices (from +4.4% to +3.8%), non-regulated energy (from +13.3% to +10.6%) and various services (from +2.5% to +1.8%); in acceleration are, instead, the prices of processed food (from -0.2% to +0.2%), regulated energy (from +9.2% to +14,9%) and related services. In July, the underlying inflation, net of fresh energy and food, remains stable at +1.6%, while the net of energy goods alone slows down from +1.9% to +1.8%. The prices of goods decelerate (from +3.3% to +3.1%), while the dynamics of those services remain stable
The differential between the service sector and that of goods passes from -0,7 to -0,5 percentage points. The rate of tendential change in food prices, for the care of the house and the person is maintained to +1.3%, while that of high-frequency products of purchase is reduced (from +3.9% to +3.6%). The change in the general index reflects the increase in the prices of regulated energy (+6.6%), transport services (+1.4%), processed food (+0.7%) and recreational, cultural and personal care services (+0.5%); these effects are only partially offset by the decrease in unworked food (-1.1%) and non-regulated energy (-0.3%).
The inflation acquired for 2026 is +2.7% for the general index and +1.8% for the underlying component. According to the preliminary estimates, the harmonised index of consumer prices (IPCA) recorded a change of -1.0% on a monthly basis, due to the summer balances of which the NIC does not take account, and to +2.9% on an annual basis (from +3.0% of the previous month).
