ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In the first trimester, according to Istat data, the accommodation exercises recorded 23 million arrivals and 71,6 million tourist attendance. Compared to the same quarter of 2025 tourist flows increased: +4.2% arrivals and +7.5% attendance.
Over half of the attendance is due to the foreign component, which represents 54.6% of the total. Compared to 2025, the presences of foreign tourists in the first quarter increased by 12.3%, while the increase of Italian customers was more contained (+2.2%).
Compared to 2025, the largest variations in attendance were recorded in February and March: respectively +3.4% and +2.7% for Italian tourists and +11.3% and +17.4% for foreign tourists. The hotel sector hosted 16.0 million arrivals and 46.3 million attendance.
The extra-hotel sector – considering private accommodation in houses and apartments for rent for short periods for tourist purposes – has contributed with over 6.9 million arrivals and 25.3 million attendance. The wider trend of attendance concerns extra-hotels (+14.7%), while the hotel sector has increased to a lesser extent (+3.9%).
In the extra-alberghieri exercises has increased the presence of Italian customers (+6.5%) but above all of the foreign ones (+21.5%). In hotels with a substantially stable domestic presence (+0.2%) there is a more lively growth of foreign customers (+7.5%).
In the first quarter, the average stay of customers in the accommodation is 3,12 nights: substantially stable compared to 2025 and greater for foreigners (3,53 nights) than the Italians (2,74 nights).
