ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In July, according to the definitive data of Istat, the national consumer price index for the entire community (NIC), to the gross of the tobaccos, recorded a change of +0.3% on a monthly basis and of +2.9% on an annual basis (from +3.0% of June); the preliminary estimate was 2.8%. The slight slowdown in inflation reflects the dynamics of non-regulated energy prices (from +13.3% to +11.4%), unworked food (from +4.4% to +3.6%) and various services (from +2.5% to +1.8%); in acceleration are, instead, the prices of regulated energy (from +9.2% to +14,8%), services related to transport (from +1.1% to +1.6%) and recreational services). The underlying inflation, net of fresh energy and food, remains stable at +1.6%, while the net of energy goods alone slows down from +1.9% to +1.8%. The prices of goods decelerate (from +3.3% to +3.2%), while the dynamics of those of the services is slightly acceleration (from +2.6% to +2.7%). The prices of the goods that make up the “expense cart” slow on an annual basis leading to +1.0%.
The differential between the service sector and that of goods passes from -0,7 to -0,5 percentage points. The rate of tendential change in food prices, for the care of the house and the person drops (from +1.3% to +1.0%), such as that of high-frequency purchase products (from +3.9% to +3.4%). The change in the general index reflects the increase in the prices of regulated energy (+6.5%), transport services (+1.4%), recreational, cultural and personal care services (+0.6%), non-regulated energy1 (+0.5%), processed food and home-related services (+0.3% both); these effects are only partially offset by the decrease in unworked food (-1.3%). The inflation acquired for 2026 is +2.7% for the general index and +1.8% for the underlying component. The harmonised consumer price index (IPCA) shows a change of -1.0% on a monthly basis, due to the summer balances of which the NIC does not take account, and to +2.9% on an annual basis (from +3.0% of the previous month), confirming the preliminary estimate. The national consumer price index for households of workers and employees (FOI), net of tobaccos, records a change of conjunctural +0.3% and a trend of +2.8%.
