Ex Ilva, Urso “Federacciai currency proposal. Production is growing”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Federacciai brought together his management Monday to evaluate, as announced by President Antonio Gozzi, if there are conditions to express a proposal of Italian companies, also hoped by the president of Confindustria Emanuele Orsini at the table at Mimit. Moreover, Italian steel companies are avant-garde in the decarbonization process in Europe, with 26 electric furnaces operating in the plants in the country. Nearly 90% of Italian steel production takes place through electric ovens powered by scrap, one of the highest in the European Union”. So the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso in an interview about Milano Finanza talking about the former Ilva. “The production of steel in Italy grew in 2025 by 3.7% and in June this year marked a further increase of 6.1% on an annual basis. The programme agreement with Arvedi in Terni and the agreements with Metinvest and Danieli in Piombino, with the new electric furnaces that will further increase national production, in a European market that will be increasingly protected by global overcapacity and Asian competition. In this context, the new European measures for the protection of the steel market from global overcapacity have come into force since 1 July and we have succeeded in obtaining from the European Commission, together with the strengthening of the Cbam and the revision of the Ets”.
About the relaunch of Stellantis in Italy Urso says: “With the new Italian Plan, elaborated after the release of Tavares, the Italian production of Stellantis has returned to grow 13.7% in the first half of this year, with an increase of 27.7% regarding the only cars. It is a first positive signal that must now be consolidated. We have to support this resumption by changing the European regulatory framework. We were the first to denounce the errors of the Green Deal and now in many give us reason. It is necessary to fully affirm the principle of technological neutrality, to overcome the rigidities of the European regulatory framework and to accompany the transition with appropriate tools for enterprises and consumers.
On the role of the State: “In this international context, in which the conflict prevails, it cannot only be regulated: it must intervene on the borders of new technologies and in the fields where European strategic autonomy is decided.”
On the importance of industrial sovereignty and the most strategic sectors: Artificial intelligence and space in the head, the new frontiers of the human dimension. On artificial intelligence we were the first in Europe to achieve a national law in tune with the European regulation, which addresses a billion euros to the development of startups, and we have nominated an Italian consortium to host one of the large European gigafactory. On the space, even in this case, we were the first to regulate the presence of the private. We have allocated more than ten billion euros to the sector, with a horizon at 2028, which have already allowed us to develop four Space Factory and implement a network of 16 industrial districts. An Italian astronaut, Luca Parmitano, will be the first European to participate in a lunar mission of the Artemis program, while the housing module in which the astronauts on the Moon will be Made in Italy, realized in Turin”.
On dear oil: “The cut of excise duties on oil and, subsequently, the use of the mobile excise mechanism should allow us to cover the month of August. Obviously we are ready for other interventions if you do not unlock navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
