ROMA (ITALPRESS) – It ended in the night at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, after two days of a long negotiation, the dispute of the Electrolux Group, begun on 11 May with the announcement of a reorganizational industrial plan that provided 1.719 dismissals, the closure of the site of Cerreto D’Esi in the Marche and a strong production reorganization of 30%. A plan defined by us “irreachable”, antechamber of a process of deindustrialization, which had to be radically modified. The agreement safeguards the industrial and employment structure of the Swedish Group in Italy and guarantees a future perspective, as underlined by the Secretary General of the FIM CISL, Ferdinando Uliano, and by the National Secretary FIM CISL responsible for the sector, Massimiliano Nobis. The non-stop negotiation of these two days at MIMIT has allowed us to make sensitive steps ahead of the starting positions announced by the Scandinavian multinational. Firstly, the 1.719 dismissals declared in May were reduced. Specifically, 902 workers were turned into voluntary incentive: 390 workers and 512 employees/quadri, net of Cerreto d’Esi and 16 R&D workers. Another important result is the unjust closure of the site of Cerreto D’Esi, scheduled for 31 December this year.
The workers of Cerreto D’Esi will therefore be employed in the production of hoods until the realization of a new industrial activity in the Marche factory. On the industrial and productive sectors, the agreement defines greater stability, guarantees and prospects for the various sites of the Group. In fact, the agreement provides that the total volume of the 4 plants is up to 30% compared to what was initially proposed by the company. In the Porcia site, the production of the washbasin is maintained, avoiding the production delocalization in Thailand and engaging the production for at least 140.000 units. Research and development and industrialization bodies of new products are maintained in our country, preventing processes of termination of business functions. The company will invest 100 mln of euro on product and process throughout the floor. On the side of employment management, the working assets will be protected and maintained net of the expenditures on a voluntary and incentive basis. In fact, the plan provides incentives for exodus and keeps open the possibility of future summaries. According to the Ministry of Labour, the use of the expansion contract will be assessed in the presence of its refinancing.
Fim positively assesses the intervention requested at European level by Minister Adolfo Urso to protect and relaunch the competitiveness of the whole electrodomestic sector, today particularly exposed to the pressure of Asian competition and energy costs. The uninterrupted trade union mobilization supported in these 6 months has been fundamental to achieve the agreed hypothesis signed at the ministerial table, to support a transitional plan that will have to maintain the industrial rooting of white production in Italy and support the entire sector of domestic electronics. European industrial policies are needed to keep Made in Italy competitive against Asian competition.
URSO “OBIETTIVO RAGGIUNTO”
“We achieved the goal: an agreement that protects workers and safeguards all Electrolux plants in Italy, with more than 100 million euros of investments to ensure long-term productive prospects.” The Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, sen. Adolfo Urso, announcing the achievement of an agreement on the new industrial plan of Electrolux. “Defending work means creating conditions for companies to continue to produce and invest in Italy. This is what our government has done with Electrolux and is what we ask Europe for the whole sector: now the Commission’s commitments must follow concrete measures,” said Urso.
MELONI “RISULTATO SIGNIFICATIVO, IL GOVERNO VIGILERA’”
“The understanding reached on Electrolux is an important step in the commitment to the protection of Italian industry and employment levels. Over 100 million investments, production continuity for plants and outputs exclusively voluntary and encouraged. A significant result for the workers involved and the industrial future of Italy. The Government will continue to ensure that all commitments made are respected.” So premier Giorgia Meloni.
