ROMA (ITALPRESS) – There are 631 million euros available to the companies of the automotive industry for industrial research projects and experimental development of a significant technological impact: it is the endowment provided by the directory decree issued by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, on indication of Minister Adolfo Urso, which defines the opening of the facilitative door within the framework of the Agreements for innovation. The resources, known as the Mimit, fall into the allocation provided by the DPCM Automotive of 10 June 2026.
“With these resources we support advanced research, innovation and technologies for the competitiveness of the automotive industry, accompanying companies in the development of new vehicles and components and in the conversion to strategic technologies with high intensity of research and development, even with dual-use potential,” said Minister Urso. The online door will open at 10.00 on 25 November and will be managed by Mediocredito Centrale, as manager of the Sustainable Growth Fund, along with leading banking and scientific partners. The measure is aimed at enterprises carrying out industrial and transport activities, including craftsmen, and research centres. Research bodies can participate in joint projects as co-proposers. 40% of the resources are destined for projects entirely realized in the regions of Mezzogiorno (Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily).
The benefits will be granted in the form of a direct contribution to eligible expenditure, within 50% for industrial research and 25% for experimental development and, possibly, in the form of subsidized financing within the limit of 20%. An increase in direct expenditure contribution, to the extent of 10 percentage points for SMEs and research bodies and 5 percentage points for large enterprises, may be recognised for projects submitted jointly, through collaboration between at least one enterprise and one or more research bodies. The increase will however have to comply with the ceilings prescribed at EU level.
Projects must include eligible costs between a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 40 million euros. The eligible costs include those for staff employed in research and development, tools and equipment of new manufacturing, consultancy services, acquisition or licensing of research results, patents and know-how, as well as, in flat form, general expenses and materials related to the development of the project.
If the funds allocated are not sufficient to admit all the projects submitted, the Ministry will hold a ranking on the basis of the score obtained in relation to some corporate indicators of economic and financial solidity.
