A Ecomondo industrial plan of Iren Environment at 2035, investments of 2.2 mld

RIMINI (ITALPRESS) – The industrial plan of Iren Ambiente at 2035 was presented today, as part of the participation of the Group Iren in Ecomondo, which traces the path of development of the company in the management of waste, in the recovery of matter and environmental services for the territories: to outline the objectives and challenges of the business unit were the Executive President and the Managing Director of the Group, Luca Dal Fabbro and Gianluca Bufo
The Plan provides 2,2 billion euros of investments between 2026 and 2035, equal to approximately 21 percent of the 10,4 billion total of the Group’s Business Plan, and meets some of the main challenges that affect the environmental sector today: the evolution of the collection models, the need to transform an increasing share of waste into new raw materials, the strengthening of the planting equipment and the improvement of the quality and efficiency of the services.
The aim is therefore not only to collect more waste, but to better value the collected ones, completing the chains of recovery of matter and energy and leveraging innovation and process digitization.
In this context, a priority is the closure of the waste cycle: without adequate equipment, even thermo-valorization, the path that starts from the collection and recovery of matter remains incomplete.
On the front of the collection, the plan confirms the perimeter of concessions and aims to complete the transformation of service models, with processes optimized and digitized to improve the quality for citizens. The goal is to bring the average differentiated collection index to 75 percent in 2035.
The plant equipment for the treatment also grows: the waste managed in the Group’s plants will reach 4.8 million tons in 2035, while the production of biomethane from the organic fraction will rise from 13 to 30 million cubic meters.
The Iren Environment Plan is part of the Group’s sustainability strategy, which allocates 73 percent of the overall investments of the decade to sustainability and transition projects and identifies the circular economy among the five main areas of intervention. In this context, the development of the Business Unit aims to consolidate a model capable of integrating the collection, recovery of matter, treatment and energy valorization, contributing to the progressive closure of the waste cycle and the creation of value.
It is this industrial model that Iren brings to Ecomondo with its own stand “Building Environment”, dedicated to the entire environmental chain of the Group: from collection services aimed at citizens to plants that transform waste into new matter and energy, the space tells through projects, technologies and skills of people the path with which Iren aims to make more efficient and circulate waste management and to strengthen its contribution to the territories.
