Confcommercio “Bollette increasingly heavier for tertiary companies, you have to reduce costs”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The high energy continues to hit hard market tertiary companies, with increases in bills that weigh more and more on management costs and the competitiveness of economic activities. In the third trimester of 2026, for these enterprises the estimated total expenditure for electricity has reached, in fact, 3,8 billion, with an increase of 46.2% regarding the same period of last year and of 66.4% on the previous trimester and with heavy effects on the monthly average bill that has touched, altogether, 29.700 euros, with particularly heavy increases for bar (+133%), hotels (+68%) and large sales surfaces (+67%).

Also on the gas front the situation is particularly critical: in the third trimester the total expenditure of the enterprises of the tertiary has been attested to 788 million (+72.7% regarding 2025), while the average monthly bill has exceeded 11 thousand euros (+66.9% on an annual basis). This is what emerges from the surveys of the Energy Observatory of Confcommercio (OCEN).

To determine these rises – he continues – is the new impennation of international energy quotations, which at the beginning of November reached the peaks of the year: the Brent oil exceeded the 100 dollars to the barrel (+69.4% tendential in October), the gas to the TTF in Amsterdam has gone up to 96.3 euros/MWh (+173.4% on an annual basis), while the price of electricity in Italy has reached a peak of 2803% euros/M.

A situation which is likely to further jeopardize the margins of enterprises, already taking place with an economic framework characterized by weak growth and still uncertain consumption.

For Confcommercio it is indispensable to “intervention urgently to reduce the weight of bills by supporting measures to support energy investments already provided in the Budget Board also interventions capable of producing immediate effects for enterprises. In particular, it is necessary to allocate the greater jet deriving from the increase of the Irap rate for the companies of the energy sector to the reduction of the general costs of the system, giving continuity to the path already started with the Dl Bollette 2026 to lighten the costs of energy”.

Moreover, always in this perspective, Confcommercio evaluates positively also “the hypothesis to introduce, with the next decree Bollette bis, a roof at the gas price of 58,9 euro/MWh, which could help to contain relapses and to reduce bills up to 10%. This is, however, a useful tool especially in the emergency phases, which cannot replace structural interventions. It is necessary, in fact, to address at the root the gap in energy costs between Italy and the main European countries – Confcommercio concludes – intervening on the mechanism of formation of electricity prices and reducing dependence on gas quotations. Only by means of immediate measures and structural reforms will it be possible to protect the competitiveness of tertiary enterprises and to contain the effects of risk on the entire economic system.”.
