Barachini “We must support journalism and ensure transparency in the age of artificial intelligence” / Video

CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – “We must use innovation with transparency and co-responsibility, always maintaining a human control”. Alberto Barachini, undersecretary of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with delegation to information and publishing, spoke about the role of artificial intelligence in the field of information and the need to protect journalism during the Festival of Financial Culture 2026.

“There is no need for greater transparency of financial information and economic training, which directly affects citizens’ lives,” said Barachini, highlighting the importance of rebuilding a relationship of trust between institutions, politics and citizens. “The role of journalism is precisely this: telling the truth and reality, verifying the facts. We can do this with all possible innovation tools, but always maintaining human control and responsibility.”.

The undersecretary also recalled the risks related to disinformation, which “has a very strong weight in our lives, although sometimes we do not realize it”. According to Barachini, attention must be paid to information flows, often governed by large international companies with economic interests in the distribution of news, so that they do not condition the formation of citizens and, above all, of young people. In support of the editorial sector, Barachini assured that the Government is committed to “continue bringing resources to the information sector and supporting public aid”, at a stage in which the system is exposed to increasing pressure on news distribution channels. “We must support the national account of our country. A complex territory such as Italy, with so many municipalities, needs territorial information, local and a national story,” concluded the State Secretary for Information and Publishing from Catania.
