MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A Banco Bpm serves an industrial partner, who is able to preserve the value of an institute near enterprises and territories. Davide Leone, founder of Davide Leone & Partners and partner with about 5% of Banco Bpm in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
“In November 2022 we explained that the industrial partners for Banco Bpm can be two: Cariparma, now Crédit Agricole Italia or Unicredit”, says Leone. “Today we are of the same idea and are in favour of any market operation that puts the protection and enhancement of the Banco Bpm network and its brand at the centre.” According to Leo, “the point is not the Italian ranking but the need to have a larger scale, European dimensions, also to face investments in technology and artificial intelligence that only larger banks can afford.”.
On the Mps file, Leo observes: “At this moment the offer of Intesa is by far the best and has the benefit of preserving both the brand and, hopefully, the management of the Monte”. As for the governance of Banco Bpm, he adds: “With a 30% shareholder, it is not possible to have a stable balance over the long term, especially because it was decisive for the election of the top management”.
Leo also intervenes on the Golden Power: “The Golden Power – unjustly silenced by nationalism – has favored a French player, who is a European player, against an Italian.”.
