In the period January-June 2026, the national export in value shows a sustained growth (+4.5%) and widespread at the territorial level: the increase of exports is marked for the Centre (+11.9%) and for the Islands (+8.8%), slightly lower than the national average for the North-West (+4.3%), more content for the South (+3.8%) and the North-east (+1.9%). The opposite is the negative dynamics of Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-9.6%), Lazio (-6.8%), Aosta Valley (-5.7%) and Campania (-4.6%). In the same period, the increase in exports of base metals and metal products, excluding machines and plants from Tuscany explains for 2,4 percentage points the annual growth of the national export; a further positive contribution of 1,2 percentage points comes from the greater sales of means of transport, excluding motor vehicles, from Veneto and Marche and pharmaceutical, chemical-medicial and botanical articles from Tuscany and Lombardy.

On the other hand, the reduction of sales of sports, games, musical instruments, precious, medical instruments from Tuscany, pharmaceutical, chemical-medicinal and botanical articles from Campania and Lazio and transport, excluding motor vehicles, from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Lazio provides a negative contribution of 1.6 percentage points to the change of exports.

In the first half, the most positive contributions to the tendential growth of the national export stem from the increase of the sales of Tuscany towards Switzerland (+434.1%), China (+136.4%) and the United States (+13.7%), Veneto towards the United States (+31.0%) and Lombardy towards Switzerland (+17.0%) and the Netherlands (+23.8%).

The larger negative contributions, on the other hand, come from the decline of the sales of Friuli-Venezia Giulia to the United States (-67.2%), Campania to Switzerland (-31.3%) and Tuscany to Turkey (-61.6%) and Spain (-31.4%). In the provincial analysis of exports, we point out the positive performances of Arezzo, Venice, Gorizia, Turin and Milan; the wider negative contributions come from Trieste, Rome, Naples, Frosinone and Palermo.
