ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We have achieved the goal: an agreement that protects workers and safeguards all Electrolux plants in Italy, with more than 100 million euros of investments in order to guarantee long-term productive prospects.” The Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, sen. Adolfo Urso, announcing the achievement of an agreement on the new industrial plan of Electrolux, at the end of 30 hours of confrontation closed to Mimit with the company and trade union organizations, started yesterday and continued without pause during the night. The agreement previews more than 100 million euros of investments and a production of approximately 3,2 million pieces annual at the end of plan, confirming the strategic role of the Italian plants. Compared to the 1.719 esuberi initially announced by the company, the new plan provides a maximum of 902 exits to be managed exclusively on a voluntary and incentive basis, with the support of social shock absorbers. On the productive level, Porcia expands its product portfolio, consolidating the production of washing machines and washing machines on both platforms. Also confirmed the investments and the productive prospects of the plants of Susegana, Solaro and Forlì. Cerreto d’Esi is expected to maintain production, with volumes in line with current ones and with the average of recent years, until the identification of a reindustrialization solution to protect the 149 workers. The Ministry of Labour will be involved in identifying the most appropriate social shock absorbers, flanked by training paths and professional requalification. The understanding is also the fruit of the battle conducted by the Government in Europe to defend the electrodomestic sector. With the non-paper supported by France, Germany, Poland, Spain and Slovakia, Italy has requested a European plan for the sector, to protect productions from unfair competition and to support investments. The Commission’s willingness to act on these proposals has helped to reopen the debate with Electrolux on new ground and create the conditions for the revision of the industrial plan. “Defending work means creating conditions for companies to continue to produce and invest in Italy. This is what our government has done with Electrolux and is what we ask Europe for the whole sector: now the Commission’s commitments must follow concrete measures,” said Urso. “I am pleased that the agreement with Electrolux has finally ended. The mediation found after months of negotiations is very good because the passage from the submerged to a much lower number of voluntary and encouraged exits allowed to avoid what would be a real social disaster”, said the minister for relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani. “After a 30-hour long marathon, the signing of the Electrolux dispute agreement marks a significant step and is an important result for all parties involved. The result arises from intense work and a common effort of mediation, in which the government has committed itself to fostering dialogue between the parties. Our priority has been and remains the safeguard of the jobs and the productive continuity of the Italian establishments. We all work in this direction,” said the Undersecretary of State with delegation to corporate crisis, Fausta Bergamotto.(ITALPRESS).
