Banca Generali, 100 million in three months for the Etf on Italian SMEs

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – One hundred million euros collected for SMEs in less than three months. The result marks a positive start for the Etf Investlinx Intermonte Valore Italia, launched at the beginning of July by Banca Generali to bring savings to the real economy of the country.

“We are proud of this goal, not only symbolic, which places us among the first investors in Italy on the small and medium companies listed,” says Gian Maria Mossa, CEO of Banca Generali. At the end of September 60% of the index’s titles are in positive territory, with an average performance of 13% and peaks above 30% for individual titles such as Tecno, Sys-Dat and TXT E-Solutions. In the same period, the FTSE Italia Small Cap Index earned 3.78%, while the FTSE MIB recorded a performance of +0.61%, highlighting the greater dynamism of the SME segment. The objective is now even more ambitious: reaching 500 million euros in the medium term, supporting flows in the order of 1-2 million per day to reduce the discount with which Italian SMEs are valued on the market. SMEs represent 80% of the companies listed in Milan, but only 3% of capitalisation. Moreover, they are evaluated with a discount that reaches up to 40% compared to the larger companies: a gap that does not necessarily reflect the solidity of the fundamentals.

“In the country there is a very high quality entrepreneurial heritage, made up of companies that innovate, grow and compete on global markets. Often, however, they do not receive the visibility they deserve. It is necessary to strengthen the channels of encounter between capital and enterprise, better recounting Italian excellence and sustaining its growth,” continues Mossa. For this reason, Banca Generali launched the SME2Change initiative, of which the Etf represents one of the first steps, together with the Intermonte Valore Italia index, consisting of 100 companies selected between the 286 listed with capitalization below the billion euros.

The index companies employ almost 120,000 people and have recorded an average annual growth of 16%. Industry, health, discretionary goods and technology represent 77% of the index, which thus stands out from the Italian market, traditionally focused on financial and utilities. Financial data and research on companies included in the index will be available on the Websim website, the Intermonte digital platform dedicated to financial innovation, active in investment consulting and reference point for investors, financial consultants, private bankers and SMEs.

The initiative also extends to non-quota enterprises, which PMI2Change aims to accompany the capital market. In the coming months, Banca Generali e Intermonte, together with Borsa Italiana and PwC Italia, will promote a roadshow in the main areas of the country.

“The next step is to cross the territory to meet the entrepreneurs who are not yet listed and tell them the options that the market provides for the valorization, strengthening and planning of the future of its business”, continues the ad of Banca Generali.

The initiative is part of the growing commitment of Banca Generali in the dialogue with entrepreneurs, a crucial component of private bank customers. According to data from the end of 2025, customers of the Lion bank run over 25,000 companies. Entrepreneurs also account for more than 50% of the private masses of the institute, which in late June exceeded 90 billion euros.

In a context of increasing complexity, responsibility and uncertainties for entrepreneurs, Mossa concludes: “visibility and access to capital are decisive for competitiveness and growth. With PMI2Change we strengthen our role as ‘Banca of the entrepreneur’, actively participating in the development of the Italian productive fabric’.
