NEW YORK (USA) (ITALPRESS) – SIMEST strengthens its presence in the United States with the opening of the new office in New York, inaugurated today in the presence of the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. Among others, the President of SIMEST, Vittorio de Pedys, the CEO, Regina Corradini D’Arienzo, and the President of ICE, Matteo Zoppas participated in the ceremony.
“The new office represents a further step in strengthening SIMEST’s activity in support of Italian companies looking at the US market, with direct assistance on the territory to accompany them in the different stages of their international journey: from entry into the market to consolidation of presence and development of investments – read in a note –. The United States is one of the strategic markets for the international growth of Made in Italy. A wide, mature and competitive market, in which SIMEST has intensified its operation in recent months with a dedicated measure of 500 million, which has registered the arrival of approximately 400 applications of financing, for a total value of 260 million euros. Over the last few years, more than 500 ordinary soft loans totalled EUR 214 million.” Relevating also the contribution on the export credit front, with 84 operations for approximately 560 million euros.
Finally, the participatory portfolio of SIMEST operations for Italian companies and their joint ventures in the United States that has reached a total value of approximately 1 billion euros. The opening of New York thus consolidates a presence built through financial instruments and investment activities, alongside greater proximity to enterprises for greater support to SMEs and an even more direct knowledge of the dynamics of the US market.
The initiative is part of the collaboration with the Farnesina and with the partners of the Italian System – starting from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, of which SIMEST is part, SACE, ICE, Chamber of Commerce and Confindustria – in close connection with the diplomatic network. The aim is to set up skills, tools and presence on the territory to support Italian companies, especially SMEs, both in the development of export and in the realization of direct investments in the United States.
The opening of New York is part of a larger plan of presidio of the key markets for Made in Italy and is flanked by the network of operating offices opened by SIMEST from 2023 in Belgrade, Cairo, Ho Chi Minh City, San Paolo, Rabat, Dakar and Riyad. The plan aims to strengthen the presence of SIMEST in the countries – identified by the action plan for the export of Farnesina – to greater potential for Italian companies and is accompanied by a consultancy service with focus on SMEs, developed in synergy with the main institutions of the Country System.
The new headquarters of New York thus expands a network designed to bring more and more close to Italian companies financial instruments, skills and direct assistance, supporting them in the routes of entry and growth on international markets.
