MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Mapei publishes its tenth Sustainability Report and the fourth global perimeter, which includes all 59 countries in which it operates. “In a scenario characterized by increasingly complex environmental, social and economic challenges, Mapei continues to invest in research and innovation, in the development of skills, in the efficiency of production processes and in the support of communities – we read in a company note –. A commitment that in 2025 has further strengthened with the establishment of the Sustainability Committee, the publication of ESG policies and with the definition of the first Group Sustainability Plan, tools that will allow to integrate more and more structured ESG themes in the company strategy”.
“This year we celebrate an important milestone: ten years of Sustainability Report. A path that has accompanied Mapei’s growth and that has expanded along with our strength in the world, becoming an increasingly representative tool of our identity and our way of doing business – says Veronica Squinzi, CEO Mapei -. For us sustainability means building value in the long term, through continuous investments in people, in innovation and in the territories in which we operate, with the aim of continuing on the road to responsible growth”.
“In these ten years sustainability has gone from being an emerging theme to represent a strategic lever for the competitiveness of enterprises – adds Marco Squinzi, managing director Mapei -. For Mapei this path began much earlier and continues to be based on the belief that research and innovation are fundamental tools to address the challenges of the future. Innovating today means developing solutions capable of responding to the needs of a sector in continuous transformation, improving performance, durability and efficiency of the works.”
The focus of Mapei’s strategy is the analysis of the life cycle of products through the LCA methodology (Life Cycle Assessment). In only 2025 the Group developed nearly 200 new Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), exceeding 500 total. The Product Sustainability Policy strengthens research and development activity in the development of circular and safe solutions.
In the course of the year 277 products were compensated through the purchase of certified credits for a total of 430.000 tons of CO2 compensated through the support of certified projects for the protection of forests and biodiversity. On the production front, the new photovoltaic systems and the operations of efficiency in the plants have avoided another 2,600 tons of emissions.
Innovation figures show a constant effort: 73 million euros invested in R&S, 2,500 new formulations and 750 qualified raw materials, with the work coordinated by the Milan Corporate Research Centre and distributed over 39 global centres.
People, communities and training. With around 14,000 employees, the multinational has been included by Forbes among the World’s Best Employers and recognized by Time and Statist among the World’s Best Companies. Respect for the rights and well-being of staff has been further reinforced by new global health, safety and skills development policies.
The positive impact is also reflected on the territory through the Community Engagement Policy, which has led beneficial initiatives around the world.
From the Inclusive Games Park of the Don Gnocchi Foundation and support to the TOG Foundation in Italy, to educational and inclusion projects in Kenya, India and Spain. Mapei Academy recorded record numbers, delivering over 75,000 hours of technical training to 365,000 professionals in the industry.
The link with art has been consolidated with the Mapei project for Culture, which has seen the Group participate as a Technical Sponsor for the recovery of the southern suburbs of the Colosseum, orto renew the partnership with La Scala in Milan and promote international events from Dubai to Sofia.
Finally, sport remains an identity pillar: from sailing debut in the project Allagrande Mapei Racing with Ambrogio Beccaria towards Vendèe Globe 2028, to football with Sassuolo, Lanùs and Deportivo Independiente Medellìn, up to world cycling and sponsorships in basketball and motorsport. Mapei thus confirms an integrated vision of business, where social responsibility becomes the main engine of future growth.
