Industrial production in July increases by 0.7% on a monthly basis

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In July 2026 it is estimated that the seasonal index of industrial production increases by 0.7% compared to June. On the average of the May-July period there was a decrease in the production level of 0.1% compared to the previous three months. This is what emerges from Istat data on industrial production for July 2026. The seasonal index shows in July a conjunctural decrease only for energy (-0.9%); vice versa, increases for consumer goods (+2.1%), intermediate goods (+0.5%) and instrumental goods (+0.2%).

Net of the calendar effects, in July 2026 production remained unchanged compared to the previous year (the calendar working days were 23 as in July 2025). An increase only for energy (+6.4%); negative changes are observed, instead, for instrumental goods (-0.1%), intermediate goods (-0.8%) and consumer goods (-1.2%). The sectors of economic activity that record the highest tendential increments are the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (+7.6%), the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+7.4%) and the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products, electromedical equipment, measuring devices (+2.4%).

Larger flexions are found in other manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machines and equipment (-4.6%), chemical products (-3.4%) and electrical equipment and non-electric household equipment (-2.8%).

“In July the seasonally adjusted industrial production recorded a conjunctural increase – Istat highlighted in the comment –. A monthly positive dynamic is found for all groupings of industries except energy. However, the overall average of the May-July period (-0.1%) declined. In tendential terms production, net of the calendar effects, remains unchanged. Among the main sectors of activity, apart from energy, is the annual growth of pharmaceutical products”.
