Del Vecchio “Combatto per il contract di mio padre”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “My father worked until his last day of life. And to see in the company the fathers work together with their children, who do the same job with passion, and give themselves a hand, gave me a sense of family that, perhaps, I did not have. That’s why I fell in love with Agordo and Luxottica.” So on the issue of Chi in edicola this week, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, head of LMDV Capital and partner of Delfin, the family holding company.

The entrepreneur and manager explains why, recently, he left office in EssilorLuxottica: “The company has always believed in me and continues to believe in me, I left because I cannot be the head of strategies that I do not share. I have done this because in my vision the heart is Agordo, the people, the generations, there I have seen the birth of success. And when so many people are so united, it is because they share a vision. It’s not just for money, but for the sense of belonging. When he fails, we become a company like the others.”.

Del Vecchio tells his project to increase his shares in Delfin: “For years I have fought to respect the will of my father, which foresees several stages, the last of which was the opportunity to buy shares of other shareholders in order to have a unitary direction and without clashes.”.

“I would be exposed financially and I tried to close the negotiation three times, and three times I couldn’t. They didn’t make me do it. After four years, I can say I kept the promise I made to my father. Because more than that, more than indebtedness for 10 billion, I couldn’t do it. And they would have earned us all anyway.”.

Then he explains the promise made to his father: “I told him that I would put before the good of the company, even if this meant sacrificing my professional and personal life. I didn’t just lose a father, I lost a guide and I lost a lighthouse. And it’s been four years but I still have the creeps to talk about him, and they don’t go away, they’ll never pass.”.

Then, returning to his entrepreneurial role: “Many think I make decisions and don’t think about the consequences. But I think about the consequences, I think about it while others sleep.” “People say I buy people, but it’s not like that, otherwise I wouldn’t have causes, I wouldn’t have divorces, I wouldn’t have lawyers. I would live much better.”.

What do you expect from others? “I expect the least, that is not to be stabbed behind me. I expect loyalty, which means being next to a person when it rains against everything or when the house burns, not only when there is to go to Gardaland”.
