ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Italy and France work on a common strategy for the future of European industry, starting from fashion. This is what the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso and the Minister for the French Industry Sebastien Martin write in an editorial published today on the Sole 24 Ore. In the text, the two ministers announce that next Wednesday, at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, will take place the “table of fashion”, in which will be presented the path to realize a Italy-France pact on fashion, also on the basis of the agreement signed by the National Chamber of Fashion and the “Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode” French on the occasion of the summit of Antibes. The Covenant, explain Urso and Martin, can become “a model in other sectors where there is already a common industrial ecosystem”.
With business associations of the fashion system, the two governments intend to work to consolidate the industrial chain, also on the level of social sustainability and legality. “To this end, we have also countered the phenomenon of the so-called ‘ultra fast fashion’, favouring the entry into force in the European Union since 1 July of a fixed customs duty of 3 euro on packages of value less than 150 euro coming from non-EU countries,” write the two ministers.
For Urso and Martin, the Supply Covenant in fashion “serves to strengthen European manufacturing, enhance work, support investments and ensure more balanced relationships throughout the value chain”.
In the editorial, the two ministers also stress the need to strengthen industrial cooperation in other strategic issues, from automotive to energy-intensive industries, from critical raw materials to semiconductors, from new generation nuclear to green technologies, to Space and Artificial Intelligence applied to production processes.
“Italy and France will act more and more in tune for a more competitive, more sovereign, more secure Europe”, conclude Urso and Martin.
