ROMA (ITALPRESS) – At the end of June, according to Istat data, for the whole of the economic sectors, the national collective agreements in force for the economic part are 50 and concern 69.9% of the employees (about 9.1 million). This percentage rises to 89.3% in the private sector and is zero in public administration, where all contracts have expired.
During the second quarter of 2026, 6 contracts were adopted: 1 in the agricultural sector, 1 in the industrial sector and 4 in private services. At the end of June the contracts pending renewal are 25 and involve approximately 2.9 million employees: less than one third (1.1 million) belongs to the private sector and the rest (2.8 million) to the public administration.
Between June 2025 and June 2026, the average waiting time for renewal for workers with expired contract has passed from 24,9 to 17,9 months. In light of growth for the private sector (from 15.6 to 17,7 months) and in decisive reduction for public administration (from 34.4 to 18 months), thanks to the renewals of the three-year period 2022-2024.
Average hourly earnings in January-June 2026 increased by 2.6% compared to the same period of 2025. The index of hourly contractual wages in June increases by 0.5% compared to the previous month and by 2.4% compared to June 2025; the increase was 2.4% in the private sector (3.2% in agriculture, 2.7% in industry and 2.2% in private services) and 2.3% for public administration. The sectors presenting higher curtain increases are environmental hygiene (+5.7%), gas and water and chemicals (both +5.2%). The increase is null for private pharmacies.
