ROMA (ITALPRESS) – There are 544,100 companies scheduled revenue in May, while in the quarter of May-July the total demand reaches 1.7 million contracts. Compared to the forecasts of the same period of 2025 there is a decline of more than 26 thousand units (-4.6%) in the month and about 42 thousand (-2.4%) in the quarter.
The mismatch between demand and job offer remains high: in May it is difficult to find 42.9% of the desired profiles, a share however decreased compared to 46.6% recorded in 2025. This scenario is the Bulletin of the Excelsior Information System, created by Unioncamere and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies that draws up employment forecasts for May.
The opportunities offered by the service sector are 368 thousand in May and 1,2 million by July. The enterprises of the tourist industry express the highest demand with 129 thousand workers wanted in May and 440 thousand in the quarter of May-July. Then they follow trade (68 thousand in the month and 220 thousand in the trimester) and services to people (57 thousand in the month and 196 thousand in the trimester).
Overall, the industrial sector previews beyond 131 thousand revenues in the month and 400 thousand in the trimester, of which a significant part in the manufacturing (81 thousand in the month and 253 thousand in the trimester), that expresses the greater opportunities in the sectors of mechanics and electronics (18 thousand in the month and 56 thousand in the trimester), of the metallurgia (14 thousand in the month and 43 thousand in the trimester) and of the textile-clothing (9 thousand in the month and clothing (9 thousand in the month.
As regards construction, the enterprises plan 50 thousand entrances in the month and 148 thousand in the quarter. The primary sector program more than 45 thousand revenue in May, in increase of more than 3 thousand units than in May 2025, and 129 thousand in the trimester, pairs almost 5 thousand more units than the analogous period last year.
These are mainly concentrated in agriculture: the companies of the tree crop sector predict 19 thousand in the month and 53 thousand in the quarter, while those engaged in field crops provide 14 thousand in the month and 40 thousand in the quarter. The sector of services connected with agriculture, instead, program 4 thousand new entrances in May and 11 thousand in the quarter.
From the contractual point of view, the labour market continues to be characterized by a clear prevalence of the term relationships: fixed-time contracts account for 63.5% of the planned revenue, while those indefinitely at 15.5%.
The difficulties of finding, although in reduction, remain high and concern 42.9% of the positions offered equal to about 234 thousand places. Criticisms are particularly accentuated in some industrial sectors, including the wood and furniture industries (61.7%), metallurgy (59.4%) and textile-clothing (57.0%), as well as constructions (54.9%), where demand for work encounters greater obstacles in finding suitable profiles.
Among the most difficult occupations to find emerge in particular the skilled workers (55.5% of the sought-after profiles is difficult to find), with tips exceeding 70% for mechanics, maintenance workers and ironsmiths. Relevant criticism is also found for technical professions (difficult to be found 51.2%) and in particular for health technicians (65.9%), manufacturing process technicians (62.5%) and engineering technical figures (60.9%). In the primary sector, 36.1% of open positions are difficult to find.
The main difficulties in the field are the positions in the category of managers, professions with high specialization and technicians (66.9%), among which stand out the open ones for technicians of the relations with the markets (92.1%). The other professional groups among which are the greatest difficulties are the breeders and specialized workers of the livestock (62.9% difficult to find), the non-skilled personnel responsible for the forests, animal care, fishing and hunting (56.2%), the exhibitors and workers in the catering activities (51.6%) and the drivers of agricultural machinery (51.3%).
The proportion of the demand for immigrant workers is 134 thousand expected income (24.6% of the total). The sectors that are most relevant to this component of the labour force are textile-clothing (41.4%), agriculture (39.2%) and construction (34.5%), where the incidence largely exceeds the average. Opportunities for young people remain widespread (157 thousand planned entrances) and affect a significant share of income (29%), especially in financial and insurance services (45.5%), ICT services (43.3%), trade (39.3%).
From the territorial point of view, the largest employment opportunities are concentrated in the South and the Islands, with more than 180 thousand income in the month, followed by the North West (131 thousand) and the North East (125 thousand), while the Center (107 thousand) stands on more contained levels. The difficulty of finding is widespread throughout the national territory, with greater intensity in the higher industrial concentration areas of the North West (46.4%) and the North East (45.7%).
