ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Institutions and distribution chain together to increase transparency in price dynamics and prevent and counter possible speculative phenomena also linked to current international geopolitical tensions. This is the result of the meeting chaired by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, sen. Adolfo Urso, and the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, Fr. Francesco Lollobrigida, with representatives of the main abbreviations of Gdo and distribution, including ANCC-Coop, Federdistribuzione, Confcommercio, ANCD Conad and Fiesa-Confesercenti, aimed at analyzing the possible inflating risks related to the protrarsis of the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz Strait.
The Mimit, the Masaf and the Gdo agreed to start a technical table to define a basket of products of great consumption representative of the Italian purchasing habits, monitor their price trends and verify the presence of any speculative or distorsive phenomena along the supply chain.
“As we did at the beginning of the legislature, intervening with determination to contain inflation and curb the rise in prices following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, even today we must act with promptness and responsibility to monitor the factors of production and prevent dynamics that can affect the final prices, protecting citizens and businesses through greater transparency of the market. Only by making a system, in a climate of full collaboration between institutions and productive world and distribution, can we guarantee stability and defend the purchasing power of families,” said Minister Adolfo Urso.
“The government has always paid constant attention to the distorsive phenomena of normal economic logic, especially speculation. Today, with Mr Adolfo Urso, we met with the Gdo from which we had reassurances on the absence of speculative phenomena, but above all we received the availability, which I underline to be common, in working on tools useful to verify and control improper distortions of the market to the detriment of citizens. In the coming days we will meet industrial representation and agricultural associations, in order to have full knowledge of the dynamics of price formation throughout the supply chain. As Minister of Agriculture, I am interested in applying the right selling price, and that there is a fair distribution of the value generated throughout the supply chain. This allows not only access to quality food to all citizens, but also the strengthening of our primary sector,” said Minister Francesco Lollobrigida.
“In fact, further comparisons will be initiated with the food industry and with agricultural associations, in order to jointly define the measures to be put in place in a preventive and strategic key – read in a note -. The meeting today took place in a climate of full collaboration, in the context of the constant confrontation between institutions and productive world”.
