UniCredit North East Territories Forum, strategic alliance between tourism and manufacturing for the competitiveness of local communities

MONTEBELLUNA (ITALPRESS) – Tourism and manufacturing are not opposed worlds, but complementary growth levers capable of strengthening competitiveness, attractiveness and development of local communities. This is the message emerged from the Forum of North East Territories of UniCredit, dedicated to the theme “ManifatTurism – The Success of an Alliance”, which brought together entrepreneurs, institutional representatives, experts and stakeholders of the territory to reflect on the new forms of integration between manufacturing economy, tourism, culture and local development.

The initiative takes inspiration from the comparison path initiated by UniCredit’s North East Territorial Advisory Board and the research carried out by the North East Foundation, which highlights how tourism represents an increasingly important component of the territorial economy and how there are numerous manufacturing chains directly connected to the fields of well-being, leisure and tourist experience. The research has also mapped out a number of cases, including international ones, which illustrate different forms of integration between manufacturing and tourism, highlighting the advantages and criticalities for companies that undertake such routes.

Among the themes addressed during the day, the role of the Sport System of Montebelluna as a model of integration between production, innovation and lifestyle, the experience of the MILE of Arzignano as an example of valorization of industrial identity through culture and tourism, and the case of the Arena Foundation of Verona and the project “67 Colonne”, concrete evidence of how the relationship between enterprise, culture and territory can generate economic, social and reputational value for communities. A model of contemporary patronage in which UniCredit is fully recognized, strong of over thirty years of commitment to support culture and artistic heritage, in the belief that investing in culture means contributing to the development and growth of the territories.

The day also highlighted the growing role of industrial tourism as a leverage of productive skills and the identity of the territories. More and more manufacturing companies are in fact transforming their heritage of knowledge, business culture and innovative capacity into experiences that strengthen the value of brands, the reputation of the chains and the attractiveness of the territories. In this perspective, manufacturing and tourism are confirmed not as alternative sectors, but as complementary components of an integrated and competitive territorial ecosystem.

“The Forum of Territories confirms a conviction that emerges with ever greater evidence: the success of the North East does not depend on the sole strength of its excellence, but on the ability to relate them. Manufacture and tourism are not alternative worlds, but complementary assets that, when they dialogue, strengthen the attractiveness of the territories, the competitiveness of enterprises and the quality of the opportunities offered to the new generations. It is on these connections that we build the sustainable and lasting growth of our territory”, said Francesco Mario Iannella, Regional Manager North East of UniCredit.

According to the research presented during the Forum, an expanded reading of the tourist industry leads tourism to affect 13.7% of employment in the North East, highlighting how much the phenomenon has much more extensive effects than traditional sectors of hospitality and catering. At the same time, the manufacturing sector oriented to personal well-being and leisure represents a reality of absolute importance, with over 2,93 billion euros of turnover concentrated mainly in Veneto and concentrated in the production of footwear, equipment and sportswear.

“The research presented today shows how the traditional contrast between manufacturing and tourism is now overcome by the facts. The most dynamic enterprises are those that can transform products, skills and territorial identity into experiences, relationships and shared value. The North East has all the characteristics to be an advanced laboratory of this integration: an extraordinary productive culture, a widespread heritage of knowledge and territories capable of recounting through what they carry out,” said Stefano Micelli, Chairman of the Advisory Board North East of UniCredit.

The comparison between entrepreneurs and stakeholders has also highlighted how the most competitive territories are those able to create ecosystems where enterprises, culture, research, local communities and institutions collaborate to enhance their specificities and generate new growth opportunities.

“The testimonies emerged during the Forum show that growth is fed through the force of creating virtuous connections between enterprises, communities, culture and innovation. As UniCredit we want to accompany this evolution by leveraging our ability to network people, skills, businesses and opportunities. Our goal is to contribute to the development of increasingly strong, competitive and attractive territorial ecosystems, promoting sustainable and inclusive growth of the territories,” said Remo Taricani, Deputy Head of Italy of UniCredit.

With this new edition of the Forum of Territories “ManifatTurism – The Success of an Alliance”, UniCredit confirms its commitment to fostering the confrontation between the protagonists of the economic and social development of the North East, promoting initiatives capable of enhancing the potential of the territories and supporting shared growth paths.
