The National Day of Avanti! rewards pluralism of information

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – For the second year, the initiative of ‘Avanti!’ and ‘Avanti! of Sunday’ dedicated to journalism and the value of information. The awards of the second edition will be announced on the occasion of the National Day of Avanti!, “La Sinistra è Avanti”, scheduled from 11 to 13 September in Campobasso, and will be subsequently delivered to the rewards.

The jury, composed by Gaetano Amatruda, Livio Valvano and Giada Fazzalari, together with political director Enzo Maraio and heard the collaborators of Avanti! and Avanti! on Sunday, identified personalities of the information world who, with different paths and sensibilities, contributed to the quality of public debate and were able to pay attention also to the experiences and political cultures present in the country.

The awards of the second edition go to Rita Lofano, director of the AGI, “for work and professional commitment to the agency’s guide and for the news that he has been able to introduce”; Gaspare Borsellino, director of Italpress, “for the attention and sensitivity demonstrated over time towards the Italian socialist community”; Andrea Pucci, director of Tgcom24 Mediaset-NewsMediaset, “for the sensitivity and attention reserved to the initiatives and battles of the socialist community and to give concrete attention to the pluralism of information”; Matteo Pucciarelli, “for following the socialist events over the years and for being among the first to tell the project of Avanti Psi after the last National Congress of Naples”.

A special recognition will be attributed to Corriere della Sera on the occasion of its 150 years, “as a tribute to a story that crosses a century and a half of Italian life. An anniversary that also represents the occasion to underline the role of professional journalism in the formation of public opinion and in the democratic life of the country”.

“For the second year we chose to dedicate a space to the information world – says Gaetano Amatruda –. We do it without classifications and without rhetoric, simply to recognize the work of those who tell every day Italian politics and society. This year we wanted to add a special recognition to the Corriere della Sera for its 150 years: an important piece of the history of journalism and our country, a tribute to the entire editorial staff at the director Fontana”.

The names of the winners will then be officially communicated during the National Holiday of Campobasso. The awards will then be delivered directly to the recipients.
