Mattarella to Pope Leo “His closeness to States instills hope in the future”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Santity, I wish to make you my heartfelt thanks for the message that you wished to address me on the occasion of the Pastoral Visit that will lead you to the Republic of San Marino in the centenary of diplomatic relations with the Holy See. Italy looks with participation in this significant anniversary. It bears witness to the solidity of a bond founded on shared values and a constant dialogue at the service of peace, of the dignity of the person and of the common good, ideals from which the Italian Constitution is animated”. Thus, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of his pastoral visit to San Marino.
“The Republic of San Marino bears in its own name traces of the deep Christian roots and proudly guards its ancient institutional traditions – the Head of State emphasizes -. I am certain that your presence in this country will be of the highest inspiration for the Authorities and citizens of the Titan, as well as for all men and women of good will, comforted by your constant call, in your apostolic journeys and in your visits, so that you may work as builders of peace and seek harmony among peoples. In a historic fringe in which the international order is more exposed to dangerous impulses towards the law of the strongest, His incessant closeness to the communities of every State, small or large, instills hope and trust in the future. With these sentiments, I wish to welcome, Holiness, the expressions of my highest consideration and the affection of the whole Italian people”.
