A representation of the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano, the choir of children protagonist of the Zecchino d’Oro, will be in New York from 6 to 13 October 2026 for his first visit to the United States. The program includes concerts, meetings with Italian institutions and visits to public schools in the city that offer bilingual Italian-English programs. An exhibition in New Jersey is also scheduled before the Columbus Day celebration on Fifth Avenue.
The tour is called “Generations of Voices – Music for Humanity” and is promoted by Incanto Productions and the Global EduLanguage Foundation, in collaboration with the Antonian of Bologna. The project was wanted by Simona Rodano, president and founder of the foundation, known for twenty years in American schools as “The Italian Fairy – La Fata Italiana”. The visit will be held in the month dedicated to the celebration of the cultural heritage of Italy.
Part of the trip will be dedicated to students learning Italian in public schools in New York. The meetings will allow them to listen and use the language through songs and comparison with peers from Italy. “Our children will sing and listen,” explained Fr. Giampaolo Cavalli, president of the Little Choir of the Antonian. Rodano recalled that she was raised singing the songs of the Golden Zecchino and indicated in the meeting between children one of the objectives of the tour.
The institutional appointments will begin on October 7 with the greeting of Giorgio Marrapodi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations. A reception will be held at the New York City Hall by the Italian Caucus of the City Council. On 8 October the choir will be received by the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture, and then perform in New Jersey in a concert organized with the Coccia Foundation.
The tour has the support of the Italian institutions involved, the Coccia Foundation, the UNICO National Foundation, the Italian Caucus of the city council and representatives of Italian and Italian entrepreneurship. Elisa Coccia, president of the Coccia Foundation, stressed the opportunity to make the children of the community know Italian culture through the choir; Chris DiMatto, president of the UNICO Foundation, recalled the role of education in the transmission of this heritage to the new generations.
To close the program will be the participation in the celebrations of Columbus Day: the Piccolo Coro will bring the songs of the Zecchino d’Oro on the red carpet of Fifth Avenue.
