On September 16, the presentation of the new issue of New York, a reality born with the goal of joining the Italian community and building a strong identity in a wonderful city but, at the same time, complex as New York. During the presentation a space was dedicated to the young under 30 who are moving the first steps in the city, laying the foundations of their future: boys who, in the city of opportunities, build with passion paths that bear the name of Italy also far from home.
The Italian figures who have left a mark in history are countless, from Dante to Leonardo, from Michelangelo to Galileo, to Christopher Columbus, without which the United States as we know them would never be born. They are just some of the names that have spread the values of Italy in the world, contributing to the role that the country still plays in the cultural, economic and civil field. But behind each nation there are also the hopes and dreams of the youngest, and that is why New York decided to give them voice, creating a dedicated prize: the Future Leaders Under 30, born in collaboration with United Italian Societies, an international network of Italian students, a nonprofit organization led by students, who connects and supports Italians abroad.
After the opening of a form for nominations, a jury composed of New York and United Italian Societies selected candidates to tell each other during the evening: each boy had a minute to present and explain why he deserves to be elected Young Leader Under 30.

Among the fourteen candidates, the paths told cover very different areas. Luca Barattini, Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University and creator of a scholarship program: ten bags, for a total of $40,000, designed to finance academic research in the United States and promote reverse knowledge transfer to Italy. The project is carried out in collaboration with Harvard, MIT, Stanford and Cornell and is supported by Matteo Danieli (Bending Spoons), Riccardo Zacconi (Candy Crush) and ISSNAF. Alessio Buraggina, Senior Software Engineer at Google, where his team guides the transition to post-quantist encryption of Google Cloud and all its customers, improving the digital security of companies and users globally. Antonio Ciardiello moved to the United States to pursue a football career through a scholarship. Once in America he embarked on a new career in the fashion industry, where he built a successful professional path: today he is sales manager for North and South America from Sartorio, brand of the Kiton group.
Several candidates work in the field of artificial intelligence applied to business. Mario De Matteis has created a startup that innovates business interview processes through interview models based on AI vocal recruiters, also training new multilanguage voice models to compete with the best text-to-speech systems. Gabriele Muratori has created a startup that automates campaigns with creators for brands: the brand inserts the product, AI agents manage the entire campaign. Edoardo Sassone studies Sustainability Management at Columbia University and is building a startup for fashion infrastructure and production crews; with a background in finance and music as DJ and author, he also develops campaigns for brands generated with AI. Riccardo Castagno is co-founder of a startup, AI Shopping Assistant for simpler and personal online purchases. After the experience in a MedTech startup on sterilization processes, it supported the growth of several startups in Italy. Nunzio Sabino, a young Italian finance professional and student of the Master in Finance at CUNY Baruch College, the first graduate of his family, arrived in New York without a network of knowledge and built from scratch his path between Investment Banking and Private Equity, developing AI tools that reduced the times of some manual review processes by 40%. Joseph Doraid is New Yorker of Italian mother and graduated in Statistics and Economics at Harvard. After two years as quant in Goldman Sachs, today he leads the go-to-market of Polymathic Technologies, AI startup for science that applies artificial intelligence to critical sectors such as data centers, defense and space.
Other candidates move between finance, social impact and Italian community in New York. Giuseppe Di Cera works as Quantum Project Delivery Lead/Technical Project Manager at JPMorganChase. He is Vice Chair of the NIAF Young Professionals Network, a board member of the US Senate Youth Alumni Association and coordinator of the youth group for the Italian Old St Patrick’s with Don Luigi. He graduated from the University of Chicago, where he did research in health economics, did internships from Goldman Sachs and the US Senate, and founded a startup. Nicolò Nefri, MBA candidate at SDA Bocconi in Milan, currently in exchange at Columbia Business School in New York, is a consultant in BCG and founded a social impact foundation born in 2026, whose goal is to finance projects in education and support students with minor opportunities. Greta Fraraccio collaborates with Emberly as Operations Lead, dealing with operational strategy, data analysis and development of automation systems and AI to support the growth of the business with which he works. Carlos Tacchetto co-founded an organization with the mission of connecting ambitious international talents with the New York business ecosystem. Carola Dulio took a plane to New York without knowing what she would find, while the food was one of her biggest fears. Today he studied finance, lived in three countries and passed from an Excel sheet to ten-course kitchen for forty strangers in his Italian evenings, the business he created from scratch. Only one constant: the curiosity to find out what happens when you stop wondering if you’re ready and start anyway.
On October 10, at Carnegie Hall, on the occasion of the ceremony of the Italian Reputation Award, will be proclaimed the winner of the Future Leaders Under 30: a recognition conceived for a young Italian who is leaving a mark in the United States, making as a bridge between the two nations and carrying forward, with his own history, the legacy of those who came before him.
