Salvini “Invest more resources for families and businesses in difficulty”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We do not want an exit from nothing, we are on a road that can be reached with exclusively Italian funds, which requires an ok of Europe”. Thus Matteo Salvini, vicepremier, minister of Infrastructures and Transports, as well as leader of the League, in an interview with “Il Sole 24 Ore” clarifies the position of his party on the eve of the presentation in Parliament of the majority resolutions on the Dfp.

“We only offer what you can do, and that others already do for years. Given that Europe is yet another slow and incapable of facing the real problems of citizens, as rightly underlined also by the President of Confindustria Orsini, in the light of the serious international situation and according to existing European standards, we ask to invest all the necessary resources to help families and businesses in difficulty for price increases after the war in Iran. So it is not an exit from nothing, but a road that can be travelled with exclusively Italian funds, which requires an ok of Europe” added Salvini.

“The League considers it urgent that Europe will grant, to the countries that ask it, the same freedom of extraordinary expenditure that today is planned for the purchase of weapons also to help families and enterprises to deal with fuels and bills. There are more costs that risk paralyzing the country, failing companies and blocking consumption. How can they not realize it in Brussels? ”.

“Our responsibility is confirmed by the accounts in order, from the growing stock exchange, from the race to the purchase of BTp, from the improvement of the rating and the spread, dropped to 80 today from the 236 of 2022. But the war in Iran has triggered an exceptional price increase, which deserves rapid and equally exceptional answers. The entire production system asks us. Better to invest billions today to overcome this moment and help businesses and families, who do not spend twice in six months to help thousands of new unemployed and self-employed”.

On the possible extension of the cut of excise duties on fuels, Minister Salvini says: “The ministers’ technicians are working on it, surely it will not be reset to what we have already done weeks ago, however first country in Europe to act in this sense to contain the increase of oil and gasoline. In this regard it is necessary to avoid the strike of the hauliers proclaimed for May: it would be an economic disaster. Businesses have all the reasons, such as airlines and shipping that are supporting heavy costs. It would be unthinkable that Brussels prevented us from helping them.”.

On the possibility of a new Pnrr to overcome the energy crisis adds: “We are working day and night to spend, and well, the billions of the current Pnrr, among a thousand difficulties of costs and times. To a new Pnrr I say no. It would mean that Italy would still be indebted with the same EU, which today does not allow to make the investments that we urgently need, not only for the expensive energy, but for example for the maintenance and safety of the territory. I also think of a great plan of development of nuclear energy, without which Italy can never have the necessary energy independence.”.
