Sales, in August sales down 2.6% compared to 2025

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – After a positive start in July, the summer balances gradually lost momentum, closing August with an average decline in sales of 2.6% in value compared to the same month of 2025. This is what emerges from the monitoring of the Italian-Confcommercio Fashion Federation on associated companies.

However, the picture remains diversified: 55% of the activities recorded stable sales (37%) or growing (18%), while 45% reported a decrease. To weigh, according to the Italian Fashion Federation, are the weakness of consumption, the increase of management costs and energy, the reduced margins and the competition, in addition to the exceptional heat that would have curtailed the purchases. “The problem is not the balances, but the weakness of consumption,” said Giulio Felloni, who alarmed the risk of a new acceleration of commercial desertification. Federazione Moda Italia therefore calls for interventions in support of independent shops, including vouchers for purchases, tax credit on rentals, devaluation of the remains and a National Day of Italian Fashion.
