ROMA (ITALPRESS) – On the occasion of the Business Forum Italia-Kenya, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and by ICE Agency, SACE, SIMEST (Gruppo Cassa Depositi e Prestiti) and Assomac – National Association of Italian manufacturers of technologies for footwear, leather and tannery have signed an agreement aimed at promoting joint initiatives in support of the internationalization of Italian companies, with a focus The signing is part of the Forum’s work, dedicated in particular to infrastructure, energy and connectivity, agro-industry and skin, innovation and finance. The agreement was born with the aim of accompanying the international growth of Italian companies in the supply chain, promoting new opportunities for export and investment in Kenya and other African countries of common interest. The agreement aims to set up expertise, tools and capacity to support the internationalisation processes of the sector and to enhance the contribution of Italian technologies to the development of increasingly structured and competitive production chains.

In detail, the collaboration will be aimed at promoting synergies between tools and initiatives, creating joint promotional activities and events and encouraging a constant exchange of information through periodical meetings of training, information and deepening. The common objective is to strengthen the international competitiveness of Italian companies and to support their access to new markets, also through a coordinated action on the territories and along the reference chains. “ Kenya represents a market of increasing strategic interest for Italian companies and an access point relevant to East Africa. With this agreement we want to accompany the international growth of our companies, putting together skills, tools and skills of supply chain in an area of excellence of Made in Italy. The initiative is fully integrated in the spirit of the Mattei Plan, of which Kenya is one of the priority countries, and confirms our commitment to support shared and lasting growth paths with the African continent, strengthened by the launch of the SACE Task Force Africa”, said Michele Pignotti, CEO of SACE.

“Africa today represents one of the leading global growth engines, a dynamic and highly evolving continent, offering significant opportunities for Italian companies ready to invest in innovation, sustainability and development of local production chains – said SIMEST President Vittorio de Pedys –. In this scenario, Kenya is a strategic hub for East Africa, thanks to its key role in industrial development processes and the growing attractiveness for international investments. In this context, SIMEST is already actively engaged through the Africa measure of the Mattei Plan, with the aim of concretely supporting internationalization projects and strengthening the presence of the Italian production system in African markets. A commitment based on a responsible and long-term approach: Italian investments look not only to economic growth, but also to the development of the territories, to the strengthening of skills and to the valorization of local labour forces. The agreement signed today is fully integrated in this direction: an institutional collaboration that sets out skills and tools to accompany businesses in a structured growth path, contributing to the development of one of the territories with the highest potential globally.”.

“With this understanding we strengthen a model of collaboration that integrates technologies, skills of the Italian company and financial instruments to support the processes of internationalization. Our commitment is to contribute to the development of structured and competitive production chains, enhancing the role of technologies and machinery made in Italy in industrial transformation and creation of added value along the entire value chain of the skin. In Kenya we continue our action, initiated through intense joint work with national and Kenyan institutions and organizations, to promote the industrial advancement of the sector, recognizing in technology an essential strategic asset for the development of productive systems. Looking at a broader horizon, the path undertaken can represent a concrete reference model for the evolution of the leather sector in the African continent, contributing to the growth of increasingly cutting-edge local supply chains and to the strengthening of opportunities for presence on international markets,” commented Mauro Bergozza, President of Assomac.
