ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “They become unbearable inequalities, discrimination, barriers that trample the dignity of too many children and daughters of God.” Pope Leo told the Angelus in Castel Gandolfo. “We are the Church of Jesus Christ in a tormented world, a world that seeks peace,” the Pontiff added.
At the end of the Angelus, interrupted by applause, he then said: “I am calling on the Palestinian people to cease the repeated violence against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank. And I urgently ask the international community to make sure that the solution to two states is progressed for a just and lasting peace.”.
Then, he added: “This week the Mediterranean Games will begin, which will take place in Taranto. They will involve different countries of Africa, Asia and Europe that belong to the Mediterranean area. I wish this sporting event to be a prophecy of peace and brotherhood among the peoples of this region and the whole world.”
