TARANTO (ITALPRESS) – “Mr. Prefect, I read the request to me received through him through associations of category of the territory of Taranto, aimed at presiding over a meeting on the former Ilva on the occasion of my participation in the inauguration of the Mediterranean Games. Similar demands came directly to Palazzo Chigi by trade union organizations of the territory. I am pleased that the applicants are appreciated the importance that the sporting event has and will have for Taranto: it is the result of a financial and organizational commitment that involved the government in the first place”. Thus the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, in the letter sent to the Prefect of Taranto, Ernesto Liguori.
“Returning to the ex Ilva affair, it is known that the Table of comparison with the national unions of the sector, is always convened at the Presidency of the Council, coordinated by the Undersecretary of Mantua and composed of all ministers of various competences, since the current Executive has settled. It will return to reunite within the first days of September to examine the various manifestations of interest presented in these weeks for the future plant layout. In parallel, it is my intention to call, always at Palazzo Chigi, a specific Table for the city of Taranto, in order to evaluate the possibilities of development of the area with entrepreneurial investments to be alongside the former Ilva. I guarantee that the maintenance of an important steel production capacity is considered by the national target government. For this reason, without excluding the comparison with the organizations operating on the territory, the Table for Taranto will be invited first of all the national vertices of the same (together, of course, to the representatives of the Puglia Region and the local authorities), which will confer to the working table the right weight. Mine, therefore, is an invitation to an enlarged dialogue, to be realized in the Government’s seat, with the wider and more national involvement, as the situation imposes,” he concludes.
