Because – as the premier points out – “if I had reasons not to participate in a summit less I would have used that with the Balkans, since Italy is among the main supporters of the integration of the Balkans in Europe and I have excellent relations with all the leaders of the region”. On Friday, when he was in Reggio Calabria for the feast of the Carabinieri, the Prime Minister warned the President of the European Council Antònio Costa and called Prime Minister Milojko Spajic with whom he made the commitment to see himself as soon as possible, “because he knows how close his country is”.
