Young people cultivate many positive values and a lot of desire to build.” Thus the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the ceremony of delivery of the Heads of Honor to the new Alfieri of the Republic. “To welcome you and give you the awards for your behavior is, for me, a reason of great satisfaction. You have been able to express solidarity, civic spirit, altruism – he adds – you have done so decisively in a moment of danger, or with constancy through a commitment that has now become part of your daily life, or still with courage following an intuition, a desire to create something new, something important for you”.
“Perhaps the great demographic change we are going through – and that we should turn – sometimes leads adults to disregard for young people. The impression is that questions and purposes are not sufficiently heard. That their talents are not properly valued. We do not notice – often – their need to orientate and even, sometimes, their discomfort in a world so different from what their parents grew up in.”.
“Silence meets an obstacle: loneliness. To break down the walls of unclean fear, of distrust, of resignation, we must overcome the solitudes. For this reason to know and tell you, even briefly, your stories is a moment of hope.”.
“Communicating and experimenting” are two fields “of great importance in our time, so fast and so global in transformations. Young people know how to communicate with new tools, in new ways, with often inaccessible languages for adults. Diffidting is a mistake. It is possible, on the contrary, to contribute with respectful and non-invasive suggestions. Young people must be able to ‘experiment’, try to walk on their own, look for their path, define their path – he emphasizes -. ‘Speeching and communicating’ means starting to be protagonists of your future. ‘Speech and communicate’ solidarity means, moreover, taking their way to build justice; not limiting themselves and following paths, even good, already beaten’
