BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – “The European front is what we must preside over to relaunch competitiveness in our continent; it is also fundamental to demand to develop a European plan for the electrodomestic sector, declaring it strategic, to start the procedures for safeguarding against unfair foreign competition.” The Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, declared this in Brussels on the margin of the European Union’s Competitiveness Council and after talks with colleagues from France and Germany and Commissioners Ue Teresa Ribera and Stéphane Séjourné.
In the foreground the need to arm the continental production fabric through an open and pragmatic industrial setting. “Made in Europe must be effective and balanced to ensure the competitiveness of our industrial sector, and we would like it to include technological neutrality, integrating those strategic partners with which we share industrial values and chains in order to ensure the supply lines that are fundamental for the growth and security of our continent – the minister explains. We must build the strategic autonomy of our continent in a pragmatic and responsible manner.”.
On the manufacturing front, Italy has relaunched the proposal to equate the sector of household appliances to that of the automotive to cope with a widespread crisis. “They are closing the electrodomestic industry plants everywhere in Europe, we in Italy are preserving them in the face of an extremely challenging context” Urso highlighted, adding the hope that other countries join the front already composed of Spain, France, Germany, Poland and Slovakia to “declave the strategic electrodomestic sector, such as the car, so as to have an automotive plan, support with incentives, safeguard measures.
Among the central themes of the Competition Council, also the impact of energy costs on Italian and European enterprises. The Minister said: “Immediate and substantial revision of the infernal mechanism of the ETS that weighs above all on industry and above all on the Italian one, raising at a cost the energy that is absolutely unequal, from a distorsive phenomenon that has facilitated financial speculations.”.
Finally, the Minister stressed the need to streamline bureaucratic procedures. “The bureaucratic simplification is also necessary to free private companies’ investments, at least four thousand projects which are still undermining the evaluation of the Regions, for a few ten billion euros that could be invested in the realization of renewable energy plants”, recalling the recent decision of Parliament that will allow “build new generation nuclear energy plants within almost ten years”.
