ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “As there are middle elections it is very complicated to say what will happen when you have to vote for the President of the Republic. When we see how the majority will be better understood, although often so many cardinals entered into conclaves as Pope often came out as cardinals, the election of the President of the Republic has a story itself. It must not be right or left, it must make the President and represent all the Italians and be a good arbitrator, then it can have a political extraction”, if right “why not, but must and do the President in the best possible way. I think this is the goal that must have anyone who will make the President because it is a point of reference for the Italians”. So the president of the House, Lorenzo Fontana, during the ceremony of delivery of the Ventaglio by the parliamentary press, and to whom questions if he would like to be the next tenant of the Colle answers jokingly: “there is a famous song: I don’t have the age, even if I want not to return and I can’t even imagine it.” There have been several arguments during the meeting with the parliamentary press, from electoral law to security, from maneuver to international crises.
“The electoral law is not a theme that I am passionate about, the majority of the elections I participated in were with preferences and I did not find myself wrong, but also the majority system has characteristics that do not dislike me. All this lies in the sensitivity of majority and opposition – continues -. The most important thing about an electoral law is to clearly understand the possibility of a majority that can govern stablely. Regardless of the government, stability is necessary. I am convinced that it serves a strong female representation, I hope also without quotas because sometimes this thing I see a little shy for women, but until we find it right to facilitate access to elections. In view of the budgetary law of next autumn, the third office of the state explains that it “already started to meet the Mef to try to have timelines that can guarantee the broadest debate in Parliament and, if you can, also make a double reading. We would like to try to make sure that this law of Budget, which will probably be very challenging, can possibly be faced” in this way.
“On the emergency decree I have already spent several times and I have tried to recall the government to reverse the trend with swinging results. This principle, according to which governments dictate the times of parliaments, does not only happen in Italy and only with this government. But we as the House have made a reform of the regulation that so important has not been there for almost 30 years and that previews important alternatives to the use of the decrees law, the regulation has been voted without any vote against – he explains -. The regulation involves all the initiatives and procedures of the Chamber’s work, I hope that we will see a clear decrease in urgent procedure.” Then two themes that are inflaming the political debate in recent weeks: the case of the jeweler Mario Roggero and the clashes with the Forces of the order that saw first stain the manifestation of Bologna that asked justice for Fakir, then the assault of the No Tav at the yard of Chiomonte. “It seems to me that there are no legal possibilities” to apply Mario Roggero. On the grace, “I have great respect for the prerogatives of the President of the Republic, I think it is something that must evaluate the Presidency. It is necessary to protect the right to manifest, it is a symptom of a democracy that works, but one can never attack the forces of order also because often also the reasons for a good manifestation and fade. I think that in order to try to ensure that the events can be organized and then turnand in a peaceful way, there are already laws. I think that any law that is made, on the one hand must guarantee the right to manifest and on the other to guarantee the forces of order”.
Finally, a passage on the international situation and defence. “I was amazed by the action made against Iran, not because I share the positions of the regime, but because it was quite evident that it was hardly possible to change a regime or stop the project of the atomic weapon. I was amazed that you didn’t think about the closure of Hormuz that then happened. I fear that military action has even strengthened the Iranian regime and has highlighted American weakness – he observes. It is worrying, this international situation leads the various countries to engage and point a lot on the rearmament and more rearmament there is and the easier it is for these weapons to be used. But a country must assume its own responsibilities because when all around you create stronger armies, you cannot but take into account. I hope that Italy always has an efficient and effective army that must look to the Mediterranean, but it must try to create bridges because this is the vocation of Italy, we have always had the vocation for diplomacy”, he concludes.
