Electrolux announces esuberi in Italy, Mimit “Maximum attention to employment protection and productive continuity”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Electrolux group has started today “a path to optimize its organizational and productive structure in Italy. The programme is part of a broader overall plan of the group, aimed at improving overall operational efficiency and optimizing global industrial capacity, with the aim of making the organization more agile and competitive.” The group notes this, explaining that “the household appliances sector has been experiencing a marked difficulty in Europe for years because of several factors, including persistently weak demand, increasing competitive pressure, structurally high costs, and increasing operational complexity. This difficult context has made it necessary for electrolux group to adapt its industrial structure in order to guarantee efficiency in the long term in line with constantly changing market dynamics.”.

The optimization concerns “the entire perimeter of the group in Italy, including the five production plants, and is the result of a comprehensive and thorough evaluation of the current set-up of the group in the country. In full compliance with the interlocutions envisaged in the context of industrial relations, specific measures relating to individual sites are not made at this stage. The priority objective is to review the overall structure of production activities in order to improve efficiency, reduce structural complexity and strengthen long-term competitiveness“. Concretely, “the plan includes targeted optimization of activities, rationalization of product configurations and volumes, and a more decisive concentration of resources on higher added value ranges. Italy remains a strategic country for Electrolux Group, thanks to its strong industrial presence and constant contribution in product development. The skills and skills present in Italy will continue to play a major role in supporting the development of products for the global markets of the group“. Based on current evaluations, “in Italy some 1,700 locations will be affected by the optimization process. Each impact on the workforce will be managed in compliance with the appropriate formal procedures and through constructive interlocking with institutions and unions. The company undertakes to identify all available measures to mitigate social relapses and support employees involved in the transition path,” the note concludes.

As usual, the Mimit will immediately follow the situation with the utmost commitment, with the aim of encouraging shared solutions between the parties, in a framework that ensures the protection of employment and productive continuity”.

BOMBARDIERI “NO A RISTRUTTURAZIONI CHE METTONO IN DISCUSSIONE LAVORO”

“We will never accept any restructuring plans that question only one job. It’s time to end it with these companies that come to Italy, take the money and then leave somewhere else.” He is the secretary general of the Uil, PierPaolo Bombardieri, who intervenes, warm, from the stage of the Congress of the Uil of the Marche, on the affair of the Electrolux, multinational that has just communicated the existence of 1700 esuberi. “It’s since 2013 that there are bonuses on purchases of furniture and appliances, cost to our country 700 million euros: to those companies that go away let him return the money and use them to create new jobs. It is time to raise the voice – said Bombardieri – with these multinationals who come to our country, caress the fur to politics and, then, explain that for industrial needs they have to restructure and dismiss. I ask the president of the Marche region, who is here in the hall, but I tell the whole politics: put yourselves on our side and let us do it immediately, because the closure of a factory and the loss of a workplace are not only a tragedy for those who live it, but also for the territory and for the community who do not know how to respond and give dignity to those who risk losing their job”.

“There is, therefore, a table immediately: I hope – said the leader of the Uil – that the minister Urso, perhaps with the help of the regions that will be involved in this process, can hold the bar straight and force these companies to stay in Italy or return the money they took. The confederations will be of support to the categories: the game you will not play it alone – concluded Bombardieri – we will be together to defend those jobs with all the tools at our disposal”.
