ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “It confirms the need, on the one hand, to maintain control over the public accounts, and, on the other, to ensure a more careful selection of the interventions to start in order to counter the effects of the relapse of the energy raw materials and, consequently, to redefine the priorities with an increasing attention to the cost evaluation – effectiveness that must guide the action of the government in the definition of the measures to be implemented”. This is said by the president of the Court of Auditors, Guido Carlino, in the introduction to the report on the general reporting of the State. “The restriction of budgetary margins therefore requires a rigorous redefinition of expenditure priorities, including the reprogramming of certain sectoral increases such as those intended for defence, while maintaining firm control of household income and corporate liquidity,” he continued.
“It cannot, however, be argued that such a framework of stability remains exposed to very strong exogenous risks, especially in view that the instability of the global context could necessitate significant revisions of economic scenarios in a short time and the consequent adoption of anticyclical policies to contain in advance the negative effects of this persistent instability – says Carlino. In this context, the acceleration of the expenditure for interventions, by the end, financed with the PNRR in order to guarantee the main objective for the modernization of the country, as well as the development of the reform measures and investments directed to the extension of the period of adjustment of the PSB and susceptible to determining new pressures on expenditure attributable to expenses for defence, ageing of the population, protection of health and transformation of the economies – In terms of infrastructure spending, the main growth engine, emphasises the importance of decisions oriented to national cohesion, the reduction of differences and the strengthening of accessibility that requires careful reflection in view of the progressive exhaustion of the effects produced by the resources injected into the system with the PNRR”.
