Confcommercio “With the blocks of the road haulage supplies at risk, act immediately”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The effects of road haulage blocks affecting different areas of the country, especially in the Mezzogiorno, and are already causing difficulties in supplying shops and supermarkets, especially for fresh and perishable food products, but also for other goods, such as household appliances and consumer electronics products. A situation that, if it does, would risk jeopardizing the regular availability of products, causing economic damage to enterprises and further inconvenience to consumers.” Thus the vice president of Confcommercio and president of Confportation, Pasquale Russo, on the consequences of the block of the Tir.

“We understand – he continues – the reasons for the discomfort of the transporters, with an unsustainable increase in the costs of fuel and energy, and we reaffirm the need for urgent interventions in support of the sector, as already pointed out in recent days.”.

“At the same time, however, it is essential to ensure the free movement of goods and the continuity of supplies, avoiding that the consequences of the protest fall on other enterprises and families. For this reason – Russo concludes – we hope that from the meeting scheduled tomorrow with the minister Salvini arrive concrete and immediate answers to the difficulties of the road haulage, creating the conditions for a rapid removal of the blocks and the restoration of the regular distribution of the goods. It must be avoided that a crisis already heavy for the transport sector is transformed into an emergency for the entire commercial supply chain and for consumers.”.
