ACIREALE (CATANIA) (ITALPRESS) – A growth based on digital innovation for energy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the enhancement of the skills developed in Sicily. This is the director of the Industrial Plan 2026-2028 presented by BaxEnergy, partner company of the Yokogawa group, specializing in the development of software solutions for the management, monitoring and control of energy assets.
The company, born in Acireale in 2010 and acquired by the Japanese group in 2024, aims to consolidate its role in the digital energy market through a strategy that combines organic growth and possible targeted acquisitions, while maintaining the centre of activities and skills in Sicily. The three-year plan numbers – presented at the headquarters of Via Sclafani in Acireale – trace a path of strong expansion. BaxEnergy plans to move from current 12,3 million euros of revenues to 32,6 million by 2028, with an average annual growth of 39%. Even more marked the increase in Ebitda, which should reach 14.4 million euros compared to 2.4 million in 2025, with an average growth of 81%. The investments planned in the three-year period amounted to approximately 16,5 million euros, while the staff should grow from the current 140 units up to about 210 employees.
Alongside internal growth, the plan also includes possible development operations for external lines, “some acquisitions” as Roberto Tundo explained, oriented to strengthen skills and technologies in the most advanced sectors of digital energy, from the management of energy resources distributed to cybersecurity to AI applications. During the presentation, the Sicilian CEO highlighted how the company’s growth path was built from the territory to reach an international dimension. “We have built a local model with a global impact,” he said, underlining how the results achieved allow the company to confront important international players in the industry today. “The numbers allow us to say that we have a competitive position towards them,” added the manager, referring to the quality of the relationship with Yokogawa.
During the presentation of the industrial plan 2026-2029 Tundo reiterated the importance of the base of Acireale. “The centre of gravity will not be moved from Acireale. 140 people work here and there is a strong leverage for innovation. This expertise is a heritage for the whole Yokogawa group.” The manager explained that the industrial model developed by the company fully meets the expectations of the Japanese group. “We have built a scalable industrial platform, exactly the model the group expects from us, both through organic growth and through inorganic growth.”.
One of the most important directors of the plan is the integration of artificial intelligence into operational processes. The aid is already used for the optimization of energy production, predictive maintenance and automation of operational activities, always under human supervision. The goal is to transform the data collected from plants into faster and more effective decisions, improving the performance and availability of assets. At the same time, cybersecurity will grow, considered strategic in a context where energy infrastructure is increasingly exposed to cyber threats. The main development opportunities in the coming years are identified in four areas. The first concerns renewable plants hybrid scale utilities, which integrate production from different sources and storage systems, requiring advanced monitoring and control tools.
The second is cybersecurity for industrial operating environments, driven both by regulatory evolution and by increasing threats to critical infrastructure. Third pillar will be distributed energy resources (DERMS), a sector destined to grow with increased distributed generation and storage systems. Finally, the company looks at energy-intensive markets, in particular data centers, whose development is accelerated by the growing demand for computing capacity generated by artificial intelligence. To confirm the growth of the Sicilian company within the group was Takeshi Suzuki, general manager of the Renewable Energy Business Development Department of Yokogawa Electric Corporation. “Every time I visit this site, I think of the extraordinary path that led BaxEnergy to be an entrepreneurial reality born on the territory to become a company with a truly global impact.”.
According to Suzuki, the new Industrial Plan represents a fundamental stage of the growth path undertaken by the company. “BaxEnergy has become an increasingly strategic component of our vision for the future of energy, digitalisation and sustainable industrial development. We discovered not only a solid technological excellence, but also a deep cultural affinity.”.
