ROMA (ITALPRESS) – According to the preliminary estimates Istat, in October the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC), to the gross of the tobaccos, records a variation of +0.9% on a monthly basis and +5.4% on an annual basis (from +4.2% of the previous month). Inflation dynamics are mainly influenced by the price trends of Energy, regulated (from +25.8% to +59.5%) and not (from +21.5% to +29.4%), those of non-worked food (from +5.5% to +7.5%) and transport related services (from +1.6% to +3.1%), to which the decrease in working food prices is added. The underlying inflation, calculated net of fresh energy and food, accelerates (from +1.6% to +2.0%), as well as that net of only energy goods (from +2.0% to +2.5%). The acceleration of the rate of growth of the prices of Goods (from +5.4% to +7.5%) is markedly wider than that of the Services (from +2.6% to +2.9%). The differential between the service sector and that of the goods therefore leads, from -2,8 to -4,6 percentage points.
In acceleration on a tendential basis are both the prices of the food goods, for the care of the house and the person (from +1.5% to +2.5%), and those of the products with high frequency of purchase (from +5.2% to +5.8%). The change in the general index reflects above all the increase in the prices of regulated energy (+18.8%) and unregulated (+4.9%), unworked food (+1.8%), transport services (+1.2%) and processed food (+0.5%). The prices of recreational, cultural and personal care services decrease on a monthly basis (-0.9%). Inflation acquired for 2026 is +3.4% for the general index and +1.9% for the underlying component. According to preliminary estimates, the harmonised consumer price index (IPCA) shows a change of +1.2% on a monthly basis and +5.6% on an annual basis (from +4.2% of the previous month).
