ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “I address, on the occasion of the Feast of the Speciality and the National Assembly, a cordial greeting to all parachutes in service and leave, to families and their loved ones, who share with dedication the burdens of a service of deep meaning”. This is what we read in the message sent by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to the President of the National Association of Italian Parachutes, General of Corps of Armata, Marco Bertolini.
“In the 80th anniversary of the Republic,” writes the Head of the State, “This Assembly preserves the living memory of a renewed history. A path marked by the value shown on the African front and by the participation in the liberation war, to Operation Herring, for the liberation of Italy from the German occupation. Testimony of ransom and national unity, where the courage and honour of paratroopers anticipated Italy reborn. These are the values on which the identity of Folgore is forged and which translates into professionalism at the service of national security, in commitment to peace and human dignity in international missions. While I offer a deferring tribute to the Medal of the Association, a witness to the value of those who have sacrificed their lives for the ideals of Fatherland’s love, I address a moving thought to the Falls and express a feeling of deep solidarity to the wounded, who bear the indelible signs of the duty performed at the service of the Country. To women and men who dress the Amaranto Basque, the Republic is grateful for the faithfulness to the values of the Constitution and the dedication given daily. To all the convents I make the most intense wishes for the event”.
