WASHINGTON (ITALPRESS) – The SAE Group announces the launch of a training school dedicated to Italian journalists of the future. The initiative is the first project developed within the framework of La Stampa USA, the information portal in English of the Group. The project was presented in the Jefferson East Room of Washington Hilton, on the occasion of the 51st Gala of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), the leading representation organization of the Italian community in the United States. The school aims to form a new generation of information professionals. It is addressed in particular to young Italian Americans who have never had the opportunity to learn the Italian language, but who retain a strong interest and a deep connection with the land of origin of their families. Journalism is going through a phase of profound transformation and students will be able to know closely an evolving profession, increasingly influenced by new media and, above all, by digital. The most worthy participants will also be selected to enter the editorial staff of the SAE Group.
The program is part of the partnership between La Stampa USA and NIAF, pursued by the SAE Group since the early stages of the creation of the portal. Among the initiatives envisaged by the collaboration are three major events a year, with the aim of strengthening the links between the two shores of the Atlantic.
“Since we have conceived La Stampa USA, we have decided to develop this project together with NIAF, which will be our main point of reference to better know the Italian American community and the United States,” said Alberto Leonardis, president and CEO of the SAE Group. “With this school we want to provide young Italian Americans with the tools to undertake a rapidly changing profession, investing in their skills and talents. Our goal remains to tell Italy and, in particular, its entrepreneurial fabric. We want to do this with the contribution of a new generation of journalists who share our deep bond with Italy.”.
“The USA Press wants to be a window on the US for Italians,” said Maurizio Molinari, editorial director of the SAE Group and head of La Stampa USA. “At the same time, we want it to be a space where Italian Americans can tell America about their communities, their history and their aspirations.” The USA Press is a free portal, with a editorial office in New York led by the editor of the Correspondence Office, Valeria Robecco.
Robert Allegrini, president and CEO of the National Italian American Foundation, participated in the event together with the founding president, John Calvelli. “As president of NIAF, I am pleased to start this partnership with La Stampa,” said Allegrini. “Unfortunately, most Italian Americans didn’t have the opportunity to learn Italian, but they always had a great interest in Italy.” The SAE Group supports economic dialogue between Italy and the United States through other initiatives. On the occasion of the official launch of La Stampa USA in New York, the Group has signed an agreement with SACE, the Italian export credit agency, which offers financial guarantees to support Italian exports and growth.
