ROMA (LA4NEWS/ITALPRESS) – The second Italian edition of the “Market Access Day” was held at Farnesina, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the European Commission. The event was aimed at presenting the opportunities offered to Italian companies by the European Union’s trade policy, thanks to the tools with which it promotes the overcoming of barriers to access to third-country markets.
Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in his message for the event, highlighted the Market Access Day as a fundamental appointment in the context of the Diplomacy of Growth, highlighting how access to markets is central to the strategy of diversification promoted by the Farnesina. The Minister underlined that the overcoming of all obstacles that slow trade both for the government a key objective: “in 2025 our exports reached the record of 643 billion. In the first seven months of 2026 export grew by 4.6%. The 700 billions by 2027 are the goal to which we point”.
The approximately 100 companies and associations present could directly deepen with the representatives of European Commission, Farnesina, Ministry of Health, MASAF, ICE-Agenzia, SIMEST and Banca d’Italia the tools that the EU’s Commercial Policy uses both to open new markets to Italian exports. This action is based primarily on the broad global network of free trade agreements and on the constant action against non-tariff barriers to trade, beginning with the health and plant health barriers that hinder exports to the agri-food sector. EU instruments were also examined to protect European industry from imports fed by unfair trade practices.
Among the free trade agreements concluded by the European Union, the discussion focused on those with Mercosur and India and on important positive effects for Italian exporting companies. Finally, the central role of trade associations, ICE and the diplomatic-consolar network of the Farnesina has been highlighted. Thanks to the open dialogue that has enlivened the event, many ideas and reports have been collected by the Farnesina and the European Commission, useful to address with even greater effectiveness the action of the Government aimed at facilitating access to third markets for Italian companies.
