TAORMINA (MESSINA) (ITALPRESS) – “This Europe is not yet the Europe we want. My thought is that we obviously live difficult times especially for the geopolitical tensions that plague our economy and if Europe thought of giving usual answers, talking only of rules and rigor, without realizing that in exceptional times we have to give exceptional answers, it would be a great mistake.” This was stated by the President of the Senators of Forza Italia, Stefania Craxi, present in Taormina at the Study Days of the EPP, who see more than 140 MEPs engaged in the Pearl of Ionio.
“Europe has been living a growth deficit for years and I believe that a surplus of responsibility over this issue should have it. If we do not invest in our production systems, in innovation and therefore we do not produce growth and continue to grow to 1%, Europe will always be a fragile subject,” said Senator Craxi. “To Europe we must ask ourselves to take care of the great themes – adds Stefania Craxi – foreign policy, where we need to speak one voice, and then the defence policy, where we need to build a European defence leg complementary to NATO, otherwise Europe will remain a viewer without any geopolitical weight on the great issues that today concern Europe and the World.”.
Finally the theme of Ukraine: “I understand the tiredness of citizens compared to a war that has lasted for too long. But it must be made clear that we are defending ourselves. We want to invest in defense and deterrence, not for a renewed war spirit. Italians must know that without security there can be no peace. And without security there can be no stability, growth, development and freedom,” said Craxi.
